BE ADVISED STAY AWAY NOT WORTH IT. This place used to be the spot to go to to get really good food at an awesome price and for a good amount. I'm not sure what happened if it changed owners, but I would advise not to go there. Ordered take out for a few coworkers and I to have lunch. Spent $88+ on a meal that was not even full. As pictured they now ration your food. I understand times are hard and prices are up, but no reason to charge more and give you less doesn't add up. Didn't realize until after I got back to work. I called them up right away and asked how in the world they could charge $3.99 for 4 pieces of fried plantains. The manager told me that is what his boss told him to put on the plate. Your best bet is to give business to another restaurant like old house 2. Won't be going back there other than to get my money back.

Small and cozy Peruvian diner with friendly wait staff who speak both Spanish and English, for those travelling from Latin America or Spain. Price range allows for just about any budget to enjoy a sizable and tasty meal. Comes together well for a family outing, as well as just grabbing a bite by yourself or with a friend. Drink options however, need to be expanded. Located in a quiet, idyllic neighbourhood, it wasnt so busy when I visited. Parking lot is small but there is definitely a lot of available street parking with good viewing thereof, from inside. All in all, a great experience for my first morning in Connecticut.

My rating 2/5. Decent food but illegally charging customers more for using a debit card. Report if you see similar charges on your bill when debit used. Food Garanachas 5/5 Lomo mixto 3/5 - where did the juice go? Seasoning? Horchata 3/5 - prefer in house made. Tasted artificial instead of natural. Bill. 1/5. - portions look good. Restaurant charging extra for debit card use not good. It's not permitted in CT so this is a warning to all customer visitors. Not sure will be back. Hope cooks have better dedication to every single dish going outside their kitchen. Taste your food. My food tasted flat.

Today I truly understood the importance of leaving reviews. Reviews give business the feedback they need to implement changes to improve. They also give potential consumers an opportunity to make educated, informed decisions. Despite the efforts of the 131 reviews before me that marked this place a 4.1, this process has failed me today.

I'll start by saying the service at this place was excellent, and the environment was enjoyable with festive music playing. I had a great time. However, the food was so utterly atrocious that a 1 star rating is fully warranted.

The Chaufa de Camarones was so salty that I couldn't eat more than a few bites. All I tasted was salt. I switched with my mom so we could try each other's food. Her Lomo Saltado was bad. Really unappetizing to the palate. The white rice was good -- but that was the only thing that was worth eating on the plate. However, this pales in comparison to the Chaufa.

While eating the Chaufa, my mom bit a rock of salt and spit it out. Yup, even after biting it, there was still a solid rock of salt on the bread plate in front of her. That served as the perfect topping to the saltiest meal of all time. The whole experience was hilarious and enjoyable, but I will definitely never eat there again. We paid and left very quickly so we could go eat.

I'm looking forward to the conversation I have with a homeless person later where I profusely apologize for giving them such a salty meal with some...

Title: Good Portions, But Beef Texture Needs Improvement

Review: I recently ordered take-out from the renowned restaurant "Old House," known for its Peruvian cuisine. Overall, my experience was positive, but I wanted to share my thoughts on one dish—the Lomo Saltado.

Old House deserves praise for their generous portions. The serving size of the Lomo Saltado was impressive, leaving me satisfied with leftovers. The dish had a delightful blend of flavors, with tender beef, vibrant vegetables, and fragrant spices.

However, the beef fell short of my expectations. It had a gummy texture that detracted from the overall enjoyment. I believe tenderizing the meat would greatly enhance the dish and elevate it to new heights.

After speaking with fellow diners, it became clear that others shared my assessment. Several customers expressed a desire for more tender beef in the Lomo Saltado.

In conclusion, Old House offers good portions and flavorful Lomo Saltado for take-out. However, the gummy beef texture leaves room for improvement. Tenderizing the meat would transform the dish into something exceptional, matching the restaurant's reputation.

We were the 2 Asian guys that went there for dine in a few weeks ago around Labor Day weekend. I ordered the Carne Asada Guatemalteca along with some fried Plantains as well. It wa really good. I was so stupid, I ate the food so fast that I forgot to take pictures. The meat was nicely seasoned, came with beans and rice and salad and a couple of their versions of tortillas. The tortillas were thick kinda like a chalupa shell but not deep fried, rather grilled. They made for a nice Peruvian taco. Put some meat rice and beans along with their house sauce, muy delicioso!!! I ordered wings and fries too, but ended up taking that togo for dinner.

The fried plantains were also amazing. I think the Central and South American restaurants just know how to make their plantains. It was grilled/fried to perfection. Not too knowledgeable on how they prepare them, but all I know is they're the bomb!!!

The waitress was very nice and was surprised I could speak Spanish. I like to practice when I have the chance, and she was very helpful in responding back in Spanish for me. I cannot wait to come back to CT and visit this...
