Connections — Local services in State College

Came here recently to make a return. I had not worn it other than trying it on in the store before purchasing. The lady told me I could not return it because of the tiniest spot on it. You would have had to really try to find this spot to actually see it that’s how small it was and the top was white. If anything it was there before I got. The top was in perfect condition tag still on and return within the time they allowed. She gave me a very difficult time and would not even give me store credit. I don’t like to believe these things are true especially in this day in age but the white girl before had not trouble making a return, our returns in the same condition, but me a black female in a clearly all white shop had a hard time. It honestly seems like she was trying to save herself the trouble of making a refund so instead made me look stupid. I just don’t think I’ll be coming back to connections any time soon because I never experienced such disrespect and felt so disregarded. I’m not so mad that I didn’t get money back or even store credit at the least but because of how I was treated and the racial undertones. Honestly disappointing. Do better

I highly recommend CONNECTIONS in downtown State College! After waiting over 30 min for a prescheduled appt at mens warehouse and watching them assist ppl without appts before helping us and then ppl who came in after us with a same timeslot appt. (If you haven't been there they make u sign in and therefore have a clear list of names in order and which are appts or not) I left mens wearhouse and called Connections. They told me they could see me right away. We got there and were taken right back for a fitting. She showed us all our options. We got a basic tux (since prom is outside on the football field anyway). Jacket, shirt, vest, pants, and bowtie. We were offered free shoe rental OR $20 off tux rental. We opted for no shoes and $20 off rental. Final bill with tax:$122.96 they only asked for half down now, the rest at pick up. My son can't make a try on session so I am picking the tux up 4 days before prom and they said I can text them when I get it home if I have any questions or problems with anything. She was very attentive, we didnt feel rushed and over all it took...

So I have went to connections for years for my boys as they started going to proms in 10th grade. I rented 3 tuxs here for my oldest and the third for my youngest for this weekend. I have always had an amazing experience here as the owner Bob was always super helpful and friendly. I was sad to hear from the female who helped us order that he was retiring and she was purchasing the business. I wished her well and we ordered his tux. I was disappointed with her interaction with us as she seemed irritable and crass, but they had become tradition. I had hoped it was just a bad day for her. Tonight my son went to try on his tux, and not only was she still a miserable person, her demeanor was rude! If there was time, I'd have given her the tux back and ordered some place else.
