I love this bookstore so much and try to order from here whenever possible. Squirrel and Acorn has a great environment, a thoughtfully curated selection of books (the children's section is chef's kiss), and a very kind owner (thanks for everything, Andrew!).
Even if they don't have the book you're looking for in stock, it's easy enough to go onto their website and special order it through them. Andrew even contacted me to make sure I had time to wait when a book I'd requested was backordered right before a holiday.

After reading all the nice reviews I thought it seemed like a nice place. I sent them 2 messages on the personal page with no response, i then emailed them twice - again with no response. Read moreI am grateful for the Squirrel & Acorn because I have been saying for years that State College, and the Centre Region more broadly, should have an independent bookstore that focuses on selling new books. I was therefore excited for my visit. And for as big as my expectations were, they were still exceeded! The Squirrel & Acorn has plenty of books to be able to find something for any reader.
There is a robust children's book section and the shelving has an intuitive flow to the topics.
In addition to books, I was impressed by the Squirrel & Acorn's selection of fountain pens, ink, and pencils.
