Mystic Downtown Marina — Attraction in Groton

We just spent Labor Day weekend at Mystic Downtown Marina , it was the first time for my husband and I. We were both extremely satisfied with the amenities, how accommodating and the service of the manager Brian and lastly how convenient it was that we were right around the corner from town with lots to do! 07/06/25 It was our third time staying at Mystic Downtown Marina, but nothing has changed since our last visit in 2020. Our experience with Brian running the place has been exceptional. He has always gone above and beyond to accommodate us and our friends who book their own slips for an enjoyable 4th of July getaway. As a bonus, we also have the pleasure of being next to the friendliest neighbors. We love this marina not only for its magnificent surroundings, but also for its location, which allows us to visit quaint gift shops, a candy shop (my favorite) and 5 star restaurants within two minutes of the marina. All the hype about S&P Oyster Restaurant did not disappoint, everything was phenomenal. Daniel's Packers Inn is also a stone's throw from the marina and is a great choice if you are looking for a more pub-style dining experience. On our first night there, we made use of the patio grilling area. It was the ideal location for our group of eight to enjoy some burgers and dogs. There are so many reasons why we love visiting Mystic but being able to at THIS marina is by far our favorite part. From the moment you arrive the Dockmaster Brian makes you feel right at home. Although we only are able to visit once or twice a year, every time we visit we always feel like we are cherished guests and always feel so fortunate to be able to stay here. The accommodations are 5 stars all around. WiFi, bathrooms, showers, parking, ice access are handled immediately as well as well as the improvements/new things to do and play with on the grounds. Recommendations for things going on and places to try are always on par with what we are looking for. It’s so nice to have some of the inside scoop for things to do (thank you Brian!). The new deck with Adirondack chairs and fire pit make for such a cozy hang out amongst the members and transients after a day out on your feet seeing all the beauty Mystic offers. On more than one occasion we have been greeted with goodies upon our return from dinner. Managers June and Jack are very nice. Marina offers the basic dock space with water, electric, and cable TV. Bring your own hose/cable. Bathrooms are clean but older. Has one washer and dryer coin op. Its located in downtown so its within walking distance of everything. Great view of river. Ducks quack at 5:30am who want a handout. Bring crackers for the quackers. Free dingy dock just 100 yards on opp. side of river. You will hear both bridge horn and whistle all night, with trains passing by up to 1:00am so it seemed. Definitly need to visit once. I will go back again. 3 stars for older docks and buildings, 5 plus stars for location. Good rates too. Black cat...
