Ok I think I qualify as a stalker because I went there for lunch (take out) today and then I was back there w my wife for dinner 5 hours later. Ya, it was that good. Here’s why I pay for restaurant food when I can cook at home; good food, good drinks, good atmosphere. BAM! They knocked it out of the park!! 3 run homer turn out the lights this one’s over ! If you want a cheep night out during the week w some tacos and beers they got you. If you want to gorge on some Mexican food throw some shots down and some frozens, they got you! If you don’t like meat (bomb fried avocado taco) they got you. I’m telling you the best fish taco 🌮! I got the cod not the swordfish. Salsa is perfect. Guak is spot on. And hey if you want to bring your DOG, go ahead and do it they have out door dining w dog bowls for water or who knows my dog drinks beer 🍺! Love the food love the drinks love the ppl and the feel. TEAM work going on here ppl. Jake who obviously runs the place cuz he’s the man has a cool vibe but is on top of things. Lots of bartenders there, which is nice to not have to wait for a drink, but ours was Ella. She was Coyote Ugly worthy. 👍 That’s the 1st time I used ugly in a compliment. I digress ... Get down here and get yourself some BOMB MEXICAN! I mean it. Best around.

Been here several times now and I feel comfortable reviewing it. I have been back so that should tell you that it's pretty good. After several visits I can say that their tacos are solid. Not the best I have EVER had but one of the best places in CT for sure. The fried avocado, al pastor, BBQ, and fish tacos are great and I would recommend any of those for sure. The barbacoa and carnitas were good but not as good as the others. The po boy I can not recommend, just not good to me. The nachos are good (especially at happy hour prices), the tortilla chips are usually nice and warm with plenty of salt, their queso cheese dip is good, guacamole is OK- fresh but a pricey for amount of guacamole received. Drinks are good- my friends like the margaritas and I had a lemon drink that was really good. The only thing I really don't like is their ordering system. Almost every time I have gone there has been a disconnect between Toast App ordering and in-personal service. When using the app to order I seem to only get a runner of food and not an actual waiter. For the prices I expect server who checks on everything. Solid offering, but has some things to improve upon and expanding the menu to offer different tacos 🌮 would be good too.

We’ve been to Taquerio twice now, and it’s become a go-to spot in Mystic. The food is fantastic — fresh, flavorful tacos (the barbacoa and carnitas are top notch, and the fish tacos are a must), plus nachos that are fully loaded and perfect for sharing. Even the chips and queso were a hit at our table. But what really makes this place stand out is the atmosphere. It’s laid-back, lively, and fun. We came on bingo night, and it was such a great experience — not only for us, but for the kids too. They loved playing bingo, Connect 4, and even the bean bag toss game, which kept them entertained while we enjoyed our food and drinks. Between the cool bar setup, friendly staff, and family-friendly activities, Taquerio nails the balance of being both a fun night out spot and a welcoming place to bring kids. Highly recommended if you’re in Mystic and want something casual, delicious, and memorable.

Nope. Never going back.

Some places in town are full of themselves because of the tourists. Many places at least have an item or two that merit the happy reviews posted by Long G'Islanders high on their ethereal vacation fugue states.

  1. margaritas served in small, served in water glasses. Don't bother.

  2. COLD tacos, sent back to the kitchen. While we are sushi afficionados, we ARE NOT fans of supposedly "fried" RAW cod, served cold.

In addition, the shredded chicken and beef was cold too.

When called on it, they insisted tacos components were served "hot" from their "warmer".

  1. Young lady manager(?) undid the initial kindness of the female server entirely. The server redid our order. Female manager showed up to overly explain the reason for our subpar taco fillings.

Seems items are cooked at their "sister location" (?), then "warmed" at the actual locaton. NOT okay ...READ...semi raw fried cod warmed after initial "cooking" offsite? No crunch at all to the soggy "fried' itty bitty bites of cod.

  1. My cohort had her credit card on the table, ready to pay for our bill (had been explained that our tacos ...2 each...were removed from bill). They grabbed her card without even letting us view the bill.

When called on it, the manager returned and got snippy with my friend as she looked at the charges on the bill. Really? The manager sarcastically asked whether she wanted to readd the items to the bill (or take more off). Really? So much for managerial professionalism.

In the end, what was promised would come off the bill, wasn't. One taco was voided.

The location obviously needs to employ a more seasoned managerial staff that realizes that passive-aggressive or snippy remarks aren't okay. We had valid reasons for returning our cold, partially cooked fried cod tacos, as well as the cold shredded meat ones.

We weren't rude. The servers were nice. The manager needs some training. Owners, please realize that local residents get the word out...we frequent Mystic ALL year round. If the food is cold and admittedly rewarmed from offsite prep (ugh...not okay for fish that isn't sushi)...if the bill has items promised to be waived and your credit card is grabbed off the table without you being able to view it, etc., etc., it's a big nope, all the way around.

My advice...visit the amazing Milagro in...

Our server was great, the watermelon Margarita was very light if any liquor, but tasty, definitely not worth the price. Served in a narrow 5-6 inch glass, filled with mostly ice. More like the watermelon juice from my juicer. Now the BIG problem, I tried 3 different tacos, all said they were to come on a corn tortilla. When brought out to me it looked like a pretty arrangement of meats and sauces on a small white disk. The small white disk wasn't warm except where the warm meat was laying on it. Upon my first bite I was sure it was not a corn tortilla. If it was it is a flour mix, the texture was the same as a flour tortilla. When I spoke to our server she did realize she forgot to mention that ordering a crispy corn tortilla was an option and not visible on the menu. She offered to bring them back and have them corrected, or she said she could bring out some crispy corn tortillas, to transfer my taco meat to. It seemed a good option because by now my friends were nearly done eating. I almost died when she brought out packaged style prevent taco shells like the ones they use at Taco Bell. My husband had the salad in a huge bowl shaped fried flour tortilla, which was about 1/3rd full of a salad mix that didn't look fresh and appealing as a salad should. He said it was okay , but wouldn't order it again. It was Not very authentic at all. My experience with Mexican foods comes from living in two states right at the border area of Mexico. The atmosphere and outdoor dining option was nice. Staff was friendly and helpful....

Place is going downhill quick.

We’ve been coming here for 2 years almost every single Saturday throughout the summer with numerous weekday nights in between as well as frequently going throughout the winter time. We had many birthday dinners here with large groups, we’ve brought our family and friends here to show them one of our favorite spots in the area. Tons of money spent, cash tips, and we leave a clean table afterwords, yet they have gone below average service for us. Within the last 8 months good service is pretty much gone, other than a friendly smile at the door. We’ve tipped accordingly a few times to try to show that we are noticing the poor performance but that did nothing. The staff gets overwhelmed quick, the manger isn’t sure what the menu consists of as far as what taco comes as a hard shell or what comes as a soft shell and she’s willing the ague with you instead of looking at the menu and admitting she’s wrong, you’ll be waiting on drinks for a while if it’s busy and you’ll just be required to order on your phone since they are overwhelmed, yet you still won’t get the drink orders you put in. Food is still good, even when they get it wrong I’ve happily fixed it myself (usually scraping extras i didn’t ask for off) because we like to be easy and get in and out. However the last experience was different and rather disappointing and that’s what leads the the review and a definite change in our Saturday night...
