The first photo is my hair prior to my salon experience and the second is the hair color I asked my stylist (Olena) for on arrival. As you can see my roots were horribly grown out so I wanted an all over bleach (mainly focused on the roots) and to be toned to make it an ashy blonde. Pretty simple ask that I’ve had done to my hair over half a dozen times before and never had an issue. Making a long story short, when my hair was “finished” it was an even darker shade of brown in the back and on the ends than when I walked in. The front was practically white. This was after a 6 hour service. I asked if we could possibly tone the front pieces so they’d be less bright and Olena said no problem. 30 minutes and 2-3 toners later she dried my hair and it was blue. And grey, and brown, and i’m told even purple in some spots which takes us to picture 3. I was so upset and exhausted I actually cried and Olena was very apologetic, called the owner, and set up a color correction for me 2 days later. When I arrived I met the owner Vasi who is a very fun, friendly, accommodating person. He made me as comfortable as could be, offered all my services as complimentary and even made me a little goodie bag. I had high hopes that he would do a fantastic job. Picture 4 is the inspiration photo I showed him because he assured me the blue/grey would strip right out of my hair and we’d have a blank blonde canvas to work with. I asked this time for a nicely blended blonde with darker roots, figuring that would be an even simpler ask than the first time as it’s about the most common blonde coloring you’ll ever see. It started off great, the blue/grey did come right out and he did what he called a “balayage” which in my opinion changed absolutely nothing and then we went to toning. In my past experiences I’ve always only received one toner treatment that sat on wet hair for about 10 minutes and was more than happy with the result. Vasi and Olena spent 1.5-2hrs “toning” my hair with a number of different colors/products and my hair was never once left alone. It quickly became knotted to hell and they continually raked their fingers through it while seemingly guessing their way through this process making it one of the least enjoyable things i’ve ever done. Once it was finally over the end result looked okay, but somehow they managed to make it bright bleach blonde at the top and a more natural darker blonde at the bottom…the exact opposite of what I asked for. But I was just happy it wasn’t blue. The next morning I noticed it looked sort of pink in some spots…on further exam my hair is splotchy pink. Enough that people think I did it on purpose although I have no idea who would do this on purpose. So in summary, Vasi is a wonderful person but him and his staff majorly screwed up a basic blonde not once but twice. Whatever they think they’re doing with 50 different types of toner just to make blonde hair pink needs some SERIOUS reconfiguring. Sad I didn’t get the amazing experience everyone else...
Read moreI haven't had my hair touched since mid-2021 as my last two haircuts and colors (at other salons) had not gone as I hoped they would. I booked my appointment with Brenna and came in to Studio Vasi yesterday for the first time and was blown away immediately. Kody was so sweet and courteous. Made me feel at ease and so welcomed. He asked questions to get to know me a bit and we joked back and forth before Brenna came over to whisk me away.
My interaction with Brenna was, hands down, THE BEST. She was so lovely and kind, I didn't think she was real. We spent some time talking about my past experiences, what inspiration I was looking at, how I wanted my hair to look and feel. We talked about products I use, how a maintenance schedule would go for me, and what realistically fit into my budget and life as far as upkeep. She took extra time to make sure she got my cut just right before diving into doing any color, which was amazing since I had long hair and was planning to cut a chunk off.
She stopped several times to have me feel it, check it out, and generally consult with me to ensure I was fully satisfied. She explained where she was in each step to keep me clued in as far as the process went and took the time to explain what she was thinking as she worked. It was so educational and frankly, refreshing. As for the color? Oh my goodness, this woman is a wizard. I have no other words for it. She had me in tears by the end because I have never felt so beautiful after a cut and color in my life. She absolutely nailed the vision. I was hoping for something that would warm up my face, look as natural as possible, but that would be a little darker than my natural color. And I continue to be in awe of how she executed it. It has so much movement and life and I feel rejuvenated.
Throughout everything, Kody was checking in, making sure I had everything I needed. We were chatting about life and I felt so comfortable there. He was lovely and I really appreciated how comfortable he tried to make me.
Brenna was the sweetest angel and I will be forever grateful to her for the magic she worked on my lifeless hair. I wish I could just bottle her up and keep her forever. I ADORED her. I booked my follow up IMMEDIATELY. I trust her implicitly and am so excited to return.
Ps. I came home and have not shut up about my wonderful experience to my poor husband. He's like "so, I guess you've 'found your...
Read moreWhen i say RUN don’t walk to this salon… i mean it. I go to CWRU and have never gotten my hair done anywhere other than home (New Jersey). My family moved from NJ to NC recently, so I haven't able to get my hair done back at Jersey. I’ve been getting my hair dyed since 8th grade and hair is very important to me and I would say I’m pretty picky of what I want and it’s very easy for me to dislike hair. I was recommended this hair salon by my sister ( who also goes to CWRU) and I was very skeptical. There has never been a time where I liked BOTH my haircut and color; there was always one that was messed up ( either i hated the color bc it was too light or dark or the haircut was messed up). It’s been 8 months since i’ve gotten my hair done bc i haven’t gone back home to my regular salon and ngl I was very scared. I got my hair done my Olena. She is super sweet and down to earth!! I was showing her some inspiration pics and I was showing her different hair colors i was interested in and asked for her opinion in which would match me the most. She gave her honest opinion and obviously I went with it. When she was preparing the bleach, she came back with some pictures of previous hair she’s done and random pictures she found online of what she thought would look good on me and not make me look too washed out. She did that during the whole hair process until it was time for toning and she wanted to make sure I left the salon with a smile on my face( I think she found 15+ photos and had me give her feedback on what i liked and disliked about them). She ended up doing a combination of hair inspo pics she found and what I wanted and let me say MY JAWS DROPPED when she showed me the result. I’ve never gotten a root smudge before and let me say after olena did a root smudge for me I was shocked at the blending and just my hair in general. Then it was time for my haircut (I was super nervous bc most of the haircuts i’ve gotten in the past have made me upset ). She didn’t let me peak at my hair until she was done and that made me even more nervous. When she was done and did a reveal…. i’ve never been so happy and felt so confident in MY LIFE. Let me say I’ve been Vasified by studio vasi and Olenified by...
