Five stars for sure. As a busy mom of three, I don't always have time or energy for reviews. But every once in awhile I have an experience that's enough of a stand-out to warrant the effort. We went to Mitchell's this afternoon because I heard they had vegan options; myself and two of my girls are dairy-free, so fun ice cream experiences are always hard to make happen! We were so delighted with the vegan options (chocolate and salted caramel, plus sorbets, even an option for milkshakes made with almondmilk!!!) The ice cream was delicious (vegan and regular flavors both). The service was lovely, no snark or extra charge for extra spoons or cups etc. They had a sweet child-size table along one window wall, with tiny chairs, and paper and crayons for coloring! AND a super fun train driving around a track above the eat-in area, to watch while you wait or while you enjoy your ice cream! There was a water station with cups, for the inevitable thirst factor. And real flowers in vases on the tables. All definitely a step-above. Highly...
Read moreI love Mitchell's Ice Cream, but my past three visits at this location have been lackluster. The past three visits, I ordered online for curbside pickup. The first time, our order was wrong. I had to to go into the store to get the correct ice cream flavor. On the second and third visit, the bag with our ice cream did not have spoons or napkins. Missing napkins isn't a huge deal, but without sppons we couldn't eat the ice cream. I had to go into the store on both occasions to get spoons and napkins. During the third visit, when I went into the store to get napkins I literally stood at the counter for several minutes. In that period of time, several of the workers behind the counter saw me but did not acknowledge me. It was very bizarre. I felt invisible to the staff. Eventually, one of the employees acknowledged me and gave me spoons and napkins. I'm not sure what was going on that day but I did not receive the service I've come to expect from...
Read moreOn a visit to Cleveland, I read about Mitchell's Ice Cream in the newspaper. My aunt and I visited and fell in love from the first bite. I flew home, and that evening, my aunt took my uncle for his first visit- her second in the same day. Mitchell's became a requirement for every visit, sometimes more than once. So many years have passed since that first visit. So much has changed. My aunt was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2020. Today, I drove to Mitchell's and brought it back to her house. We sat at her table and she exclaimed about how good it was twice. In those moments, we locked eyes and we were there, together. A precious instant of clarity, of connection, of joy. Sometimes you do a thing well and you don't have any idea how many ways that will ricochet and multiply. Thank you, Mitchell's, for doing what you do. Today, your work making the best ice cream also made an incredible...
