This is the most unsafe I have ever felt waiting at an Amtrak station during the day. I couldn’t imagine coming here at night. There is a large homeless encampment nearby with mentally ill people who come and go often. One person walked less than a foot from where I was standing just to be intimidating. In the 45 minutes I had to wait here, it was a harrowing experience.

This is a lovely historic station. However, in the past year or so there is a large homeless camp which has developed and the area has begun to feel more dangerous with some scary encounters. I have not seen any police in the area and the city employees we have spoken to have not been helpful.
