As a loyal patron of Kavasutra, I've cherished the lively ambiance, quality kava, and the friendly staff. However, recent changes and certain practices have led me to reconsider my views.

The new no-laptop policy disrupts the blend of productivity and relaxation Kavasutra once effortlessly provided. The fact that the staff is no longer allowed to curate the music or adjust the RGB lighting to anything beyond a stark white robs the bar of its unique, personalized charm.

More troubling are the alleged labor violations. It has come to my attention that Kavasutra is reportedly taking 30% of the employees' tips, which may violate Section 3(m) of the FLSA. Additionally, employees are purportedly not receiving due compensation for overtime, potentially contravening Section 7(a) of the FLSA.

I want to clarify that my disapproval isn't directed at the stellar staff who continue to provide exceptional service under these circumstances. My concerns lie with the decisions of the upper management and these possible infringements on labor laws.

My sincere hope is that Kavasutra rectifies these issues, returning the bar to its previous inviting environment and, crucially, ensuring fair treatment for its employees. Until then, my rating must echo my disappointment...

I’ve been coming here for over 4 years and have always respected this place and the people who work here. But today I had a very disappointing experience. My drink was not filled properly—nowhere near the usual amount—and this wasn’t even on a 2-for-1 day. I’ve noticed lately that the quality and consistency have dropped, and there’s always pressure to buy more and more, even though the drink itself is already strong.

What concerns me even more is the behavior of some clients and new staff. People like Erick sometimes act as if this is just a casual coffee shop, showing disrespect for the actual purpose of this space. I’ve been a loyal client for years, and I’m not going to stay silent when disrespect or discrimination happens.

I’m sharing this as someone who truly appreciates this place and hopes things improve. But if this continues, it could lead to more serious legal concerns in the future. Respect, consistency, and accountability are...

Love the staff and the regulars. Whether it's a full house or just you and the bartender in the middle of the day just talking about anything from sports to string theory or stonks 📈 to the hypothetical mating habits of the people in the long lost city of Atlantis, there's never a dull moment. Some prior reviews had harsh words for this Bella character and I can't imagine why. The only thing that shines brighter than her awesome attitude is her radiant and intoxicating smile. Not to mention, she makes some highly effective concoctions that are sure to turn your frown upside down. Along with the rest of her team, Luis, Ruby, Elram, and sometimes my secret man crush Daniel, Bella runs a tight ship serving tasty sips at this Kavasutra location.

P.S. The Chinese takeout place in the plaza is fire 🔥🔥. Try Jan Mei and tell her the Kava people say Janet makes the best Chinese food in town. She's a...
