The instructors at this school are super experienced and knowledgeable about surfing. Chris made sure I stood up on my first lesson ever! It was a rough waves day and he still managed to show me the ropes and insight about surfing. Jeremy, also a surfing Guru, made sure I had the best day and stood up several times on my second lesson, luckily we had beautiful waves and water!! He answered many questions to help us understand the essence of surfing. I am older and it was not an issue. There were many young students that were also guided by other great instructors, everyone had fun!m and felt welcome. The school has parking spots and is right by the beach access with showers and toilets, restaurants and ice cream parlors. When you walk in remember to check out the map with points from visitors from all around the world, and grab some cool good quality merchandise, they also have towel ponchos!!! I can’t thank this school enough for teaching me how surfing works. It was only a dream and now that it came true, really want to do it...

I was in town on a business trip in late April and decided to give surfing a shot. I called the day before I was flying in and spoke with Cody. He gave me a run down on the process and with very short notice booked a private lesson for me the following day. As soon as I arrived he got me set up and made me feel comfortable with a positive attitude and great conversation. He was extremely thorough in educating me on tides, wind and safety. He built my confidence and made sure I was ready before we ever got in the water. While in the water I felt safe and in good hands. I had an absolute blast and walked away from our lesson with the biggest grin and sense of accomplishment. After trying surfing... I am addicted and will travel from my landlocked home in Colorado in the near future to see Cody again for another lesson. Great location, cool apparel for purchase and absolutely amazing staff! My two young kids and I recently took group lessons with Surf City Surf School (connected to Shaka Taco in Surf City), and we were blown away by the incredible experience! The staff was super friendly and very flexible with scheduling, which made things so easy for us. When we arrived, the instructors greeted us right away and even carried our long boards to the beach. All we had to bring were our towels and bathing suits—everything else was taken care of.

The instructors started with a thorough fundamentals lesson on the beach, which gave us the confidence to head out into the water. They were so patient, taking time to adjust our stances and guide us on which waves to take. We felt safe, supported, and most importantly—had a ton of fun!
