My experience at this store was so mixed and chaotic. If you are thinking of getting your alterations done at Davidās, save yourself a massive headache and just take the dress elsewhere.
My poor experience started my first appointment to try dresses on. I was the last appointment on a Saturday and it was very obvious the employee was done at that point. I wanted to try a dress that was on the mannequin and basically had to beg the employee to take the dress off. She claimed it wasnāt my size, etc. even though it was. Iām so thankful I pushed that hard for her to do her job because it wound up being my dress. It was perfect. Fit perfect and was exactly what I had envisioned. Right at my budget too. Iām very pleased with the actual dress I bought, but the experience was so poor.
The issues unfortunately didnāt end here. I decided to get alterations done here despite reading poor reviews and experiences. (Donāt make the same mistake as me!!!) I was originally told a very reasonable price so I figured itās an added bonus for choosing Davidās and that they should be very experienced with this since they must alter plenty of dresses. I was so incorrect.
The price I was quoted after going through the whole alterations appointment was 5x what I was told and definitely much more expensive than a local store I couldāve gone to. By the time you hear this price, youāve spent so much time and effort it seemed silly to not just continue, so I did.
It doesnāt stop there⦠when I tried on the altered dress for the pickup appointment two of the bustle points ripped right off the dress for the employee. She took it back and sewed them back on so quick right on the spot, not bothered one bit. I became increasingly concerned. When I took the dress home I discovered two more of the points had ripped right off. What kind of quality was this?? How was it ever going to hold up on my wedding day when the dress was actually on and being moved around all day. I paid so much money and the quality was so poor.
I called the store and got another appointment to re-sew the 2 bustle points and reinforce the rest of the points as I was now concerned. When I picked up the dress I was showed the reinforcements, which looked great. The employee however neglected to tell me that they decided to totally change the style of bustle points. When I opened the dress back up I noticed this change and had to call the store. The employees were so unhelpful and had no clue what I was talking about.
I had to get yet ANOTHER appointment and drive the dress 30-mins away (for the 4th time) to just be shown that they had changed the style. There seems to be a lot of confusion and lack of communication between alterations employees.
I will say, every person that I encountered during my alterations was pleasant and helpful. I just wish my experience with the services was not so poor. Iāve reached out to Davidās Bridal support twice with my concerns and have received nothing back. Itās clear that alterations is a quick money maker with very little oversight for quality control. As a customer, I feel disappointed, frustrated and taken advantage of. I could never recommend this store to someone.
**the store responded under my review to contact their support team. Iāve reached out three times now and have received no help. Do not be fooled by their fake responses. They are not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have shopped here a few times, mostly the bride had already told me the dress and number so it was a matter of telling them, they grabbed the dress and I tried on the size. This past weekend a group of 7 went in with 2 appointments, a bridal appointment and bridesmaids appointment. There 2 other brides in the store when we walked in. Instead of taking us to the main center area we were put into a corner section where we had to get our own chairs to sit. The bride was choosing some reception dresses; she comes back to try them on and the girl that was helping us is just standing there. The bride says I need some help zipping and the girl working says she needs help so I go to help zip up the bride (every other store we went to they helped her get in and out of the dresses). The bride was not in the middle of the store she was in a back corner showing us dresses; clearly she was not important for them. As a bride you want to be on the stage for everyone to see you... nope we stayed in a corner area. That's just one of the worst parts; once she is done it's now time to get bridesmaids dresses. I had spent time the night before looking online and taking screen shots of dresses I like the style of. I asked her (the girl who worked there) if she wanted me to show her or what and she said there is number you can go pull them all... umm ok... not sure why she was there but cool. So I start to look for the style/dress number and it's literally a cluster. There is ZERO numerical reason or alphabetical reason the dresses are in the order they are in. Looking for F0021125 it's next to G2634530 then the next section is F217832 or some hodgepodge of numbers. It was the most chaotic and frustrating thing to endure. So after spending approximately 45 minutes trying to sort their maze of nonsense (there were 3 I never did find the number for) it's now time to try on the dresses. The girl who worked there took our measurements first; when I asked my size I said nope there is no way that's correct... I was that size 20 years and she said our sizing is different... ok cool again I mean you did measure me. Yeah she was WAY wrong... so I spent 45 minutes in the maze trying to find the dress to pull ALL wrong sizes except 3 that I had to pull bigger sizes and were actually my true size because what she told me they didn't have. I then gathered up the ones that I had found that were not the right size and asked her to please go pull the correct sizes since I wasn't spending another 45 minutes hunting to find them all again; she wasn't super happy. No one there to help us pinch tight the big dresses to see what they looked like if they fit, we were left on our own to do it all. Then we go to leave and the dress the bride picked she tried to tell us the size was wrong that we said and the bride knew it wasn't so we made her go pull it, put it on again and confirm what we said was correct. If you are good to do everything on your own, your bride to not feel special and on the main stage then you should book an appointment and go. Or I would suggest heading 10 minutes down the road to Reading and the Bridal district where every shop we went into treated our bride like royalty and bent over backwards to accommodate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst experience with David's Bridal and I was far from impressed. I spent the day prior in Reading with the most amazing customer service and knowledgeable staff that made it so easy to find the perfect dress for my wedding! So I had already purchased my actual wedding dress but I still needed a reception dress, rehearsal dress and my wedding party needed bridesmaid dresses so I showed up for 12pm bridal appt hoping to find what we still needed. Our associate seemed to be maybe new? Or perhaps this is just the expectation for David's Bridal but I found that there was very little actual help happening. Oddly we were setup in a back corner of the dressing room, even though there was an open bridal section with the pedestal to stand on. I'm not sure why we were not in the bridal section for our bridal appt. But we were all measured, I then wandered the store alone looking for dresses in my size to try on and held them (I'm short so I literally held a hanger of dresses above my head while trying to look at other options). My previous experience had sales associates helping zip me up and allowing my bridal party to be surprised when I came out in a new dress... but that is NOT what is going to happen at David's Bridal. You will need one of your bridal party friends to zip you and to help get dresses back on hangers and in/out of your fitting room. I had a few questions about possible alterations to dresses and I did not feel confident in our sales associate's knowledge to answer those questions. After I found 1 dress my bridesmaids were then sent on a 45+ minute scavenger hunt to find dresses to try on. This was a mix of everyone looking online for dress item codes to find them hanging in the store - but note: there is literally no rhyme or reason to the system. Dress codes do not go in order, you will HATE the scavenger hunt. It was terrible. And while our sales associate did try to help when asked, and was trying to help find dresses, she also didn't know where they were... ever. We had issues with sizing being incorrect so while you get measured before you even start it's worth grabbing a few a size or two bigger to save you from having to do a second scavenger hunt. I think the worst part as the bride was trying to see everyone try on dresses but also running back and forth to the racks when we had the sizing issue so that we could get the correct size to try-on. I would have really liked to have been able to just be present with my bridal party so I could see what they were putting on. We ended up buying five dresses, spending about $900, but I would not say it was a positive experience at all. And while our sales associate was nice, she was not a jump-in-and-help-because-I'm-being-paid-to-be-here kind of associate. Trying on dresses can be hot and a little frustrating already so adding in having to find all your own dresses and a LENGTHY scavenger hunt into the mix made it a really awful experience. I do not recommend anyone try to find their dresses here. If you think this is the only budget-friendly bridal shop in town, think again! You can find off-the-rack in Reading, staying in your budget, and have a five-star experience. Skip David's...
