It's nice to have a craft store in gig harbor, but it's definitely not the greatest place. The selection is much smaller than other Michaels stores so it's often hard to find what I want. Some of the staff are just wonderful but there are plenty who are borderline rude and not helpful at all.
Other issues I have are with Michaels in general and not this specific store. They have fantastically tempting coupons that can save you a lot of money... If you can figure them out. There are so many restrictions and contradictions and times when you can't apply a coupon that it's often incredibly frustrating to expect to pay a certain price and end up paying much more. It's also incredibly frustrating that you can only use the coupon once per day, especially since Michaels is pushing their buy online and pickup in store platform. If I do make a purchase online and pick it up in the store but then I want to pick up some other things that I wanted to see in person before buying, I can no longer use my coupon. I would think it would be much better business practice to simply offer a coupon and allow it to be used for that day no matter how many times someone wants to spend money in your store. It's also very frustrating to me that you have to have the coupon with you and yet there is no good data in the store and the Wi-Fi connection they provide is often insecure so that my phone refuses to use it. If I don't remember to take a snapshot of the coupon barcode before coming in I may not be able to use the coupon at all. Again, when presenting this issue to staff at the register, some are extremely helpful and have a copy of the coupon they will use happily without complaining... others are fairly rude but will use their copy of the coupon, and plenty of times they tell me they don't have a copy at all and I'm just out of luck. While they may be telling the truth, again, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired in these cases. Additionally, many stores have easy ways to access discounts without having a coupon, and since Michaels insist on asking your phone number and email address and having an account with them in order to get the coupons in the first place, you would think the giving them this information every single time I check out would be able to activate those discounts and not require the actual coupon. It's really quite a silly system requiring a lot of extra work for both the staff and the customer.
I still go here plenty for right now but I've definitely started to look for other places to get my supplies. I spend quite a bit of money on craft supplies and I don't have time to waste on their very poorly functioning website and I get extremely frustrated with the coupons and service in store. Still, it's really nice to have a place to go to pick something up quickly if it's available, and especially when some of their really wonderful staff...
Read moreI generally don't take the time to write a review, and the times I have, its to make sure someone gets the credit they deserve. Never have I written a bad review but I am completely compelled to do so this time. This Michael's in Tacoma near the mall is not bad at customer service, they are straight out HORRIBLE. I had seen the reviews for bad customer service in the past, but I tuned that to just a bad experience and always give it the benefit of the doubt. Well, they failed here and I should have not wasted my time. Nor will I ever go back or recommend another Michael's to anyone. I walked to the back of the very messy store (that should have been my 1st clue that no one cared) to where the frames are. I became very excited because they had bright orange tags hanging on all the shelves that stated their frames were 50% off. I was looking to get about 10 frames as I do photography. So I picked out a rather large assortment of frames going well of the original qty. when the checker rang me up with her bad attitude from the start at $115, I immediately stated that the frames were all marked at 50% off. she didn't even pause or look back down at the product when she stated very abruptly "not these ones". I then began to state that the label said "all frames 50% off" she gave me an overwhelming sigh and one of her coworkers overheard and said in another condescending tone that she would go check. Now here is where it gets really good because she didn't come over to our register or anything to even check which frames we bought, she just walked off, maybe got back to where the frames were and then turned around and came back to the front of the store and stated "ya, none of those are on sale". I actually started laughing out loud and called them both out on the fact that I had multiple different brands, styles and sizes and she didn't even know which ones I had had. The lady in line behind us started arguing with the two checkers saying that the signs were posted all over the place not specifying which brands were on sale. the two checkers did not care one bit and gave my wife and I an unsatisfied look as if to say "well, do you want them or not?" at that point (before my wife started swinging) we left all of our merchandise at the counter and walked away. The bad thing is, I was prepared to spend that much that day for frames if I wanted to, but the way Michael's "takes care of the customer" will insure I will...
Read moreI had the most horrible experience at this store yesterday, that I have decided never in my life to enter into another Michaels. I could not even believe that the Mangers at the store did not even understand or have the comprehension of their policy and lied in my face.
It all started when I decided to buy a wood burning kit. Without out any hesitation I ask the manger at The Lakewood store in Tacoma Washington State that If I was to buy this kit can I return it and what was their policy? The reply from the manger was certainly as long as I have my receipt and its within the three-month period. After reviewing the kit on the Internet and closely examining the kit I decided It was not something I would like to really use.
Where the problem was that I open the kit and I tried getting it back into the plastic box that it came into but could not get it back in the box correctly like how the store had it.
I decided to take it back to Michaels on my way back home from holiday shopping.
Step: I walk up to the counter with my receipt and the original package and nothing missing or used. The only problem that I had was I could not get everything back into the package.
Step 2: call the manger. Manger came then told me it had to be in the original package before they can take it back. So, me and the cashier tried to get it back into the container it came in but would not go in. Then, am frustrated can you call another manger. Yes, another manger came. I canât take it back it needs to be back into the original package. I kept playing with t until I got it finally in then they turn to me and said they will not take it. I was in disbelief. I was told once if I could get it back into the package they can take it back.
Now, here is where the problem define original package?
My definition: The package the the store gave you when you bought the product.
Conclusion I call the store where I original bought the product and had to get into my car and drive back to the store I bought it because the Michaels I bought the wood burner kit refused to return It because I could not get it back into the container it came in. The manger from the other store even ask to the manger at the 2921 S 38th St, Tacoma, WA 98409 if they can please return it they would not.
I got product return after driving to the store of original purchase. Sad because am not familiar with Washington State,I live on a military base.
They ...
