Crab King Cajun Boil & Bar — Restaurant in Tacoma

I was very disappointed in the service today and their staff has no customer service skills. I'm a food critic and I rate restaurants I dine in as well as everything that I pay goods and services to as a consumer so that it gives others what to expect and every individual has their own opinion. What I may like and enjoy you may not but to pay fine dining was disappointing more in the service side of the business. The African American male waiter for our table didn't understand common sense or the billing side of the workplace. I requested an order to go and you would think one would have common sense to separate the bill so you're not paying gratuity on it as they automatically charge you 18% for a party of 5 which was my case here but not the issue as I was very well aware since it stipulated on the new menu. Well the young Asian male cashier came by our table to ask what was the problem with the bill and I explained, though he was very argumentative about it trying to tell me that it's not about common sense well if I was on the other side of the counter and he was the patron and I billed him for a to go order provided he caught that I'm billing him on a dine in charging him gratuity I'm sure he would be letting me know that I should have common sense to separate the bill one would think. Also, the menu has changed and the price has increased $11 blaming inflation as we all know. On the attach pics below the old menu of the Hangry was $52 whereas you can make substitution and get 3 Corn, Potato and Sausages and the breakdown receipt of the new menu replaced what they now call the Beginner Combo at $63 without substituion of choice and to 2 Corn, Potato and no Sausages. Sausages are now an add on to the menu. The service was very slow for non peak time and you would think since you can't substitute the Beginner Combo menu that it will be quickly served but it took way longer than when I used to order from the first and original old Hangry menu with substitution to include Sausages. Waiter didn't come by checking if we needed drink refills until we informed him. I would refer my friends to this place but now with my experience I wouldn't recommend this place at all. What a quick price hike in less than a year...

Flavors aren't what I'm used to, but I loved every last bite. Even better, there was plenty of parking and the food came out fast. The only thing I wished, was that I ordered an extra side of pasta because it was so good we almost fought over it.

I enjoyed the layout. Not too fancy so we could be comfortable getting messy. The only problem, the sat us next to people to save themselves from splitting up their zones. We had to be careful and even try to keep it down. Especially when we got out food well before them and had to eat it all in their face. I felt bad. Wished the layout had taller sections to help with that as well as to stop food and juices from flying to other tables. Yes this food gets very messy.

We voted on our favorite sauce and the house sauce was the winner, but I personally liked the lemon butter flavor. Both were not spicy. Didn't need the spice, but im curious what the spice would have done to the flavors.... that pasta tho, it's perfect to go along with all the seafood and sauces.

The drinking water was good, above average, but did not stand out enough to remember. The place wasn't exactly the cleanest or updated, which like I mentioned earlier, made me feel comfortable. You can tell it's a minor remodel over what ever restaraunt use to be there before.

Hmmm, I'm missing the staff, they seemed just fine to me. One person at our table did get an attitude at one point but never said anything to the sever, it was her opinion, we all thought the server did ok. I guess they could have checked on us a but more after they brought all the food out. At one point we wanted to order more pasta but never seen a server to ask until it...

My family of five went to the King Crab Broil and we had a very mixed experience. Here is the positive: the flavor of great when you get a broil. The fried Cat fish is very good. They also give you large quantities of food. The pasta had a great flavor and you can have it with shrimp, chicken, or sausage. Overall food is good!!

Negatives: The customer service is awful. I had a lady that took our order, brought our food, never came back and asked us for a refill or asked us if we enjoyed our food. Drinks cost $3.29 each and we were not offered another until I complained to the manager.

The waitress was not rude she was just extremely busy working way too many tables. Reading reviews this is a constant complaint that has not changed. They did give us a 15% discount for our trouble. When you have five or more gratuity is automatically charged.

Lastly, one of my family members ordered the king crab legs. They charge you $70.00 for two legs and that's supposed to be 2 pounds. As consumers beware of this!!
