Great new tapas bar here in Tallahassee. The âredoâ of this historic Tallahassee location is sophisticated and polished. We ordered the Sangria Flight to start so we could sample multiple flavors. We really liked the white and the blackberry flavors. We ordered two tapas and a main for our meal.
We started with the Sahimi Tostadas. This dish is made with ahi tuna and avocado spread served on top of two large round tortillas. The fish was high quality and very fresh. Each tostada has a very healthy serving.
Next, we had the Scallops Gallega. This dish came with four large scallops served on a bed of Yukon potato cubes (same cut as the patatas bravas). The scallops were seared and the dish was finished with paprika, olive oil, and other seasonings. The scallops were very well prepared.
For our main dish we ordered the Pinchos de Red. This dish came with two grilled skewers with marinated top sirloin beef chunks, bell peppers, and onions. It was also served with patatas bravas and a house salad. The beef was tender and well prepared.
The service was attentive and responsive all evening. Alexa and the rest of the staff did a great job. The manager stopped by to see how we liked our meal. We gave him our feedback and made some suggestions for things we would like to see on the menu for future visits. He had the chef stop by a bit later to say hello and ask us for some more feedback. They had had some feedback from other customers when they first opened to make dishes that were more familiar and with a milder flavor profile. We were âpushingâ (just a bit) for them to try and expand the other way. It was really great that they were so open to feedback.
Casa Tapas and Cantina is definitely on our âtry it againâ list to explore more of the menu. It is great to finally have someplace here in Tallahassee serving this unique cuisine in a great setting and with solid service. If tapas are a favorite of yours, we definitely...
Read moreMy wife and I enjoy ethnic food and were excited that an authentic Spanish restaurant opened up in Tallahassee. About 3 months ago we tried it and were extremely pleased with our dining experience. My wife and I were promptly seated in the "love Room" a separate dining area away from the TVs (FSU game that night). The decor is very appealing with comfortable chairs and attractive table settings. We were immediately welcomed by our server who was efficient courteous and knowledgeable about the cuisine. The menu is extensive with a variety of Tapas (traditional Spanish small plates) and Spanish specialties as entrees. For the meat lovers steaks are available. We ordered the empenadas from the Tapas menu. Two large empanadas were served with aioli sauce and they were very good. For our main entree we opted for the seafood paella. The portion is more than sufficient for two people (we had leftovers) and the paella was excellent. Highly recommend it for a true Spanish meal experience. For our dessert we selected the churros and they were perfect. Nicely crisp on the outside and soft on the inside served with dulce de leche and chocolate sauces.
We decided to pair our dinner with a flight of sangria and recommend it for those who want to taste the different flavors (I liked the blackberry sangria which had a dash of brandy in it).
All in all this was a wonderful dining experience. The manager visited our table a couple of times to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.
We were so pleased with our dining experience that we returned this time with our son who was visiting from LA. It was an evening of great food and impeccable service. I hope the Tallahassee foodies patronize this restaurant as...
Read moreMy Mother Came to Town and Visited for the Day, bringing my 4 younger Siblings along. We made a reservation for 12:30pm on a Sunday. It was our first time eating there. My Other Younger Sister and Her Boyfriend met Us there so there were 8 of Us in Total, which was not a Problem. The Buffet was full and there was a wide Variety of food, deserts, fruit, normal american breakfast food buffet on one side (bacon, sausage, eggs, etc) and Spanish Style Food lunch/dinner food on the other side- fruits, pies, cupcakes, baked goods, pretty much anything you could want down at the end. The only thing I wish they did was Put a Label or Card infront of the Spanish food with the Names of each Dish so you know what everything is. The Chef was ontop of the buffet very well, and was out mingling with the customers by the buffet if you had any questions etc, He made sure that the Buffet was constantly full with fresh hot food being cycled consistently. The Wait Staff was Excellent, the Young Ladies did a Wonderful Job making sure my family had everything that we needed. Our drinks were never empty, and our dirty plates were never sitting in our way because She made Sure that we were taken care of. One of the Friendliest Waitresses with Best Customer Service that I've had in a long time. Food was wonderful. It was a great experience. Highly...
