Updated 07/01/2018 - Went back to give it a try on Father's Day and all the seats have been replaced with new ones in the theater and it was much cleaner - Original Review: Great atmosphere, get the old tampa nostalgic feeling but needs better cleaning staff in theatures. We go for everything else as everything else is awesome and of high quality but have decided to skip the movie theatures as they have caked on grime in seat arm rests. The comedy club at Centro Ybor is of the highest quality, geat value and the best atmosphere you could want to have in a comedy club. And across the street on the oposite corner from 7/11 from Centro Ybor is a little cuban cigar and coffee shop. This place has the best cuban coffee with sweetened milk and white chocolate I have ever tasted. The majestic smell of cigars while your listening to the expresso machine whip up the hot beverage and the hostess politely talking with you with the unmistakable cuban accent... best ending to a night out at Ybor. Go to Centro Ybor for comedy, dancing at clubs, drinks with friends, as a starting point to walking through the Ybor Downtown area, for great food and even family time at the resturaunt that includes a gaming arcade. Great police presence and awesome nightclubs surrounding Centro Ybor. If you are new to area or just visiting this needs to be on your to do list. The only draw back is the movie theatures. You can find much better and cleaner movie theatures elsewhere. The nightlife and food and distinctive Ybor City atmosphere that cannot be found anywhere else is why...
Read moreCentro Ybor sits at the core of the historic district and is the hub for big events like the Gasparilla Knight Parade and Tampa Pride. Anchor restaurants like Hamburger Mary's and Carne Chop House take up the majority of the real estate and smaller shops such as Ybor Wine Bar, Asiatic Street Food & Noodle Bar, and a comedy club fill out the rest. There is also a large movie metroplex across 8th Ave. and other smaller eateries and shops.
Being a photography instructor I am constantly bewildered by the security force who will chase folks off the property at the first sign they want to take pictures. It has happened several times when I stop to have 2 or 3 students take photos. It's a tourist destination, a jewel in the crown of Ybor, and any publicity would seem to help this oft struggling-for-tenants place. Yet they will shoo people away if they stop to take pics. Pretty power trippy....But has gone on for years.
Nice architecture, a few places to sit and rest in the courtyard after a day (or night) of taking in Ybor, and public restrooms that are sometimes open. Just don't break out your larger camera. Phone cameras are...
Read moreI eat there a couple of times a month. Always get the prime rib, it never dissappoints. Yesterday I was there a little after 4 with a friend. Had great service and the food was fine. At the end of our meal I was informed that their internet was down and they could not process card payments. They informed me I could either pay cash, they could write the card number down and process it later, or we could wait and see if the internet comes back up. I replied "I do not really feel comfortable with you guys writing my card number down, and I'm not really in a hurry so I'll just wait." About 10 minutes later our server came back over with a carbon copy reciept for me to sign with my card information written on it for them to process later. It was a little upsetting, especially since i specifically said that I was uncomfortable with them writing my card number down. I spoke with the manager but I do not feel like my concerns were...
