The Attic at Rock Brothers Brewing is an absolute hidden gem of a venue for live music. Only about 25 4-top tables in a room the size of a 3-car garage, with a full bar and standing room at the back. And you don't even need to get up to order a drink- "there's an app for that." The only thing I could ask to improve would be to have restrooms upstairs. Perhaps there's just not enough floor space for that.
But the best aspect of the room is the cozy intimacy. There are shows at big arenas where the front row is further away than the back of this room. This is a place where there is literally no bad seat to be had. Acoustics are great, amplification is not really needed, and best kept to low power when utilized.
The vibe is somewhat industrial, bare brick all around (which very much fits the Ybor City aesthetic), exposed duct work hanging in a deceptively high ceiling. Lighting is warm and even around the room, never harsh. Just a cook place to hang out, even if there wasn't a show. But bonus, there ARE shows with great artists from various genres.
Not every city has an intimate venue that works this well. If you haven't seen a show here, check out their schedule and get on it.
Oh, and go ahead and arrive early. Rock Brothers Brewing downstairs has plenty of seating where your can enjoy their craft beers and a fantastic selection of inventive cocktails made with fresh ingredients (i.e. no bottled...
Read morefirst visit and very disappointed. the entertainment was great but everything else was all wrong. First, if there had been a fire, most people would not get out alive. There's no possible way the number of people was within fire code! Not only were there more people in there than the space could hold, but two small tight aisles which the waitresses were blocking because that's the only room they had! All the chairs were in tight rows, and a bar with standing room only, 3 deep blocking the only two exit ways out at the back (one being elevator). Speaking of the back, my seat was in last row of chairs, so all the people standing at the bar were rowdy and talking so loud that I could not listen to whom I paid to see. which was supposed to be a table not a row of chairs. The bathroom is also downstairs which nobody knows about, so at intermission between acts, I made my way to the small door/hallway to find I was in a basement garage! . And while the two bartenders were so slammed they couldn't handle the volume, i found it quicker service to go to the bar downstairs to get my own drink and come back up missing the artist. forgot to mention on my first drink, the upstairs bartender took my $20 and gave me $4.25 change back for my $10.70 drink. Jipped me a nickel and s $5! Hey buddy learn to count change if...
Read moreNo really what we expected. Full liquor bar made good drinks. You have to go up to the bar to get them, or download their app to order, then somone brought to you, so personal contact isn't there. Its on the 3rd floor, so stairs, although we did notice an elevator being used for a wheelchair guest. Nice chandeliers on stage. More of a intimate session with the band member, not a full band, it was acusticle. We were expecting full songs, not the case when we went, more like a back yard bbq laughing and joking, onky part songs mostly. A bit crowded with close quarters and small pub table sharing, we didn't have a choice with whom we sat with, assigned seating it was. We wound up...
