hotel haya was literally the perfect wedding venue for my daughter's wedding. we toured it because it's climate controlled, was large enough for the couple’s guest list, has two spaces (for ceremony and reception no flip required), and is not a barn (everything is a "barn" these days it seems). there are shockingly few venues in the greater tampa area that fulfill just those four requirements. however, hotel haya was so much more than 70 degrees, spacious, and not a barn. it's so dreamy.
los novedades is literally the best ceremony space. it has so much history with the old tile, old windows, stained glass, and 2nd floor original windows. it's so unique, but not in a weird way... historical and cozy but room for a lot of people. everyone just loved it.
the adjacent hotel ballroom was much more than a typical hotel ballroom. first off, it is not carpeted. it's shocking how many expensive hotel ballrooms have carpet. ugh gross. there's no way to decorate around that. anyway, it has 2 story windows and the parquet floor is great. the brick wall is perfect. the ballroom can be very light and airy, but the bride and groom wanted intimate and cozy which our florist pulled off completely in the space. it was just a gorgeous reception.
the ballroom lobby is a great little venue too and was perfect for the welcome reception there. it was fun, and spacious, and the perfect start to the wedding events. the hors d'oeuvres were so good too. there's a wonderful coffee shop in the hotel where the bride and groom met for early coffee on the wedding morning. it was so easy for them to meet there, and it will be such a sweet place to revisit whenever they want to for anniversaries or date nights. for the family and guests who stayed at the hotel, it was so easy to just go to events by going down and up the elevator. i underestimated how nice that would be. The guest rooms are spacious and lovely and don’t feel like a standard “I’m traveling for business” hotel room. The whole hotel feels boutique and personal.
best of all, logan, the wedding coordinator at haya, is so kind and helpful and always replies to emails and answers all questions. and not just in the last couple weeks. she responded quickly even when the wedding was still months away. she's so easy to work with, which i was not expecting. i've been involved in several family weddings, and every single person, from the dress shop to the venue, was rude rude rude. logan, and all of hotel haya, was not like that at all. everyone was so kind all the time. for example, at the tasting, everyone was bending over backward to change things to accommodate the bride and groom’s taste and preferences. and speaking of accommodations, they completely handled all the food allergies at dinner, and the bride had to do little more than send them a list of who had what allergies and their table number. that would have been so complicated to oversee ourselves, but they handled it completely. throughout the meal, their staff was constantly checking on people and making sure everyone was happy.
it was definitely all hands on deck for the wedding. haya had countless staff, and logan, present all day for set up prior to the wedding, and logan stayed late into the evening to make sure everything was running smoothly. they just had everything handled from top to bottom, and i had no worries at all. if you don't want to sweat through your wedding (there's basically not a day in tampa that isn't too hot, too windy, or raining), go with hotel haya. it's the best. and worth every penny. the whole place just feels special. it's beautiful, comfortable, and full of charm. every single person we interacted with made us feel like they genuinely cared. it’s hard to put into words how grateful we are for how smoothly and beautifully everything went. truly...
Read moreBeautiful property in the heart of Ybor city in tampa. Staff is super friendly and accommodating, very nice and always willing to assist with all of your needs. I stayed here a few weeks back for an event over the weekend. Upon arrival we noticed there was a bigger event happening that weekend with a fraternity and we definitely experience the loudness of their music, partying and late night partying in the halls, outside our window via the balcony and also outside the window via the indoor patio, it would have been nice to have a do not disturb sign in my room to hang outside my door in hopes people walkikg in the halls late at night would see it and quiet down, but there wasnt one in my room. Also the hotel is located literally across the street and down the street some of the bussiest bars/nightclubs and nobody got any sleep. My room was on the very top floor (4th) and with my patio closed and drapes closed, tv on ...I could hear all the music, traffic, and people being drunk and loud all night up past 3 am. If you are looking for a relaxed, quiet and serene hotel this is not the place for you. But if you wanna come hang out and party your heart content over the weekend this is definitely in the perfect location for that. Our event was catered and we had most our meals in the hotel, food was great. Beds were super comfortable along with the pillows. My room was separated by a wall between the desk and the bed, it was very posh and stylish. The bathroom was super nice and grand, the toiletries smelled amazing. Only thing i will dock points off is the creepy photo of a man on the inside of the bathroom door, it was very uncomfortable and weird having some random man staring at me while going to the bathroom or using the shower, my suggestion is to put him somewhere else. I absolutely loved the full size mirror, great for selfies. The view of the scenery from my balcony was amazing, got to catch a few sunsets. Some of the couches near our event space were great to lounge on during our breaks. The rooms do have a mini bar both on the desk and inside the mini fridge if you want to endulge, pricey if u ask me. I ended up getting snacks and drinks from a local store instead. Hotel has a nice bar in the lobby, very spacious and lots of places to hang out and talk with people. Uber anf lyft are readily available nearby if u need one. And while you are walking the streets during daytime u may run into some roosters wandering the area, they won't bother you at all, just keep in mind if u mess w them u will get a 5k fine, as they are protected in this area. There's a 7/11 down the street from hotel if u need last minute snacks,...
Read moreAfter staying a week at the hotel due to medical treatments and spending several thousand dollars, I am highly disappointed with the lack of service and empathy front desk agent RENE showed for someone who just underwent chemotherapy.
On the last night, I requested a room change in the middle of the night due to the strong sulfur/ chemical smell from Tampa Bay seeping in through non-insulated windows and my body not being able to tolerate it. Needless to say I was throwing up all night and the gentleman I spoke with assured me that there were rooms available but we needed to wait for the morning staff to override the system as he didn’t know how to do so and manager was off for the day.
When I called back at 6:50AM, I spoke with Rene, who handled the situation extremely poorly. She claimed there were no rooms even though I had been told otherwise by the night staff. Her dismissive tone and lack of empathy were shocking even after I told her of my cancer treatments. She put me on hold, said “I’m not sure how long this is going to take me” and didn't even bother to come back on the phone to apologize or offer a compensation, instead handed me off to the night representative who was left to deal with the situation with no avail.
After spending a year in various luxury hotels due to my condition, I can confidently say that this level of service is unacceptable, especially for a hotel charging $400 a night for a studio room. I have never left a bad review but the lack of empathy and consideration for a guest undergoing medical treatment is deeply disappointing. I expected a higher standard of care and understanding from Hotel Haya.
Note: Rene had told the night staff I had already moved, but she must have forgotten the room I had been comfortably staying in was reserved on my last day to an existing reservation, forcing me to move to a less desirable/smaller unit type for the same cost. The new room was plagued by loud music from the outside until 3 AM and cigar smoke from other guests in the balcony. I now have to drive 4 hours on no sleep. This experience, combined with the dismissive attitude of Rene was extremely disappointing.
Unfortunately, was not worth the expense or the stress it caused during an already...
