Strongly recommend visiting a different pottery studio if you value your money or health. I booked a planter workshop for my girlfriend, who has been doing pottery for years at a variety of studios here and elsewhere, and it was nothing short of a total disappointment. The staff were very pleasant and understanding, but the owner clearly mistreats his workers and customers.
We arrived at 6:55 PM for the 7:00 PM workshop, only to find that the staff hadn't been notified that the class was happening. Nothing was set up, no clay was wedged, nothing. The staff were apologetic and hurried to prepare, which I appreciated, but ultimately resulted in us spending the first hour of this three hour workshop sitting around doing nothing but "sketching our ideas." We spent a third of this $110 (for two people) pottery class drawing on a sheet of paper. By the time they began handing out clay (wedging clay is hard work, shoutout the worker who did it as fast as possible thanks to the owner's poor preparation!), it was nearly 8 PM. At this point, we had literally two hours to shape and build our entire pottery project.
Starting with my girlfriend and me, the entire class asked for a refund and to leave because, again, a third of our time was up before we even got to start working with clay or receiving any instruction. The workers did their best to argue for us to get a refund, but cautioned that the owner would likely only offer us a rebooking or partial refund. I left my name and number, only to have to dispute the charge with my credit card company after well over a week of zero communication from the owner.
To recap, the owner didn't prepare his studio for a class, failed to notify staff it was occurring, showed face for all of 3 minutes during the class, and then failed to offer a timely refund for a class that never properly occurred.
On top of all the issues with the class, this pottery studio is also just absolutely not maintained well. While pottery is inherently messy, this just makes tidiness all the more important to avoid things like Silicosis. Despite this, everything from the table, to the tools, to the tablecloths, to the shelving and front counter is absolutely caked in clay residue. It seems they focused more on displaying slip-cast works for people to ogle than they did on providing a safe, productive working environment. Horribly disappointed with my experience and will happily take my business elsewhere to some of the other friendlier, cleaner studios in...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this studio on Valentine’s Day. I called ahead and spoke to a very kind man who assured me that walk-ins were welcome and that the price for painting and pottery would be around $20-25. After a 50-minute drive, I arrived to find a completely different situation. A different man greeted us told me the price was $50, which was much higher than what I was told. I asked him where to sit for pottery, and he pointed to empty chairs with pottery tools in front of them. I was excited and asked about payment, thinking it would be $25, but then a woman took over the conversation and insisted the price was $50, and that I would have to wait 45 minutes as there were no tables available. I had already driven all that way and been told something completely different, and I was extremely frustrated. I was told to wait, but after 30 minutes with no contact or updates, I decided to leave. I gave my number, but they never called. I even walked around the studio, and there were plenty of empty spaces! This woman was rude, disrespectful, and wasted my time. It completely ruined my Valentine’s Day and my boyfriend’s as well. I feel disrespected and hurt by the way I was treated. It’s disappointing how much kindness was taken for granted, and I can’t help but wonder if there was some underlying bias involved. I don’t understand why she felt the need to lie and cause this much frustration. I spoke to three employees of this place who told me different things, but this women lied, she could have assigned us a table, but she rather chose to exploit her responsibility and made us wait and never called. And i tell you, since i am into art myself, there should be an aura to place, if this is the behavior of the employee, she doesn’t know the meaning of art, art is beauty it signifies purity, this women is ruining the essence of it and for what i...
Read moreOne star is being generous, I was extremely disappointed with my experience at drip, I took my girlfriend there for our two year anniversary, we called ahead to try and book an appointment and were told that it was a walk in only day, we drove 45 min to get there and then when we showed up we were completely ignored and had to wave down an employee, once we finally got her attention she told us we couldn't be helped because it was by appointment only, mind you there was only one other group of about three women there and they were wrapping up. We told her that we had just spoken with her on the phone and were told we couldn't make an appointment and had to walk in, she then became very hostile and told us we needed to calm down even though we were perfectly calm. We were told it would be about a 15 min wait until the group finished and that her male coworker would help us, we had no problem with that and agreed to wait, not even 3 min later she said was gonna help us instead although she was clearly very annoyed with us being there. She then continued to be extremely rude and called my girlfriend and I "cringey" , she was complaining non stop about the owners of the establishment and how much she disliked working there. On the website it is stated that making our own piece of pottery would take at least an hour, however she had us done and charged over $100 after a total of 23 minuets, she kept telling us we weren't doing a good job and essentially did the pottery for us not allowing us to really have any fun. We could not believe how horrible she was, we had heard good things and were so excited to celebrate such a special day for us, but it's safe to say she completely ruined that. We never went back for our pieces because of how atrocious her behavior was. I could not recommend this...
