All I was getting was two short lengths of battery cable from the bulk reel. Couldn't find anybody walking around, so I asked the guy at the front desk. He said he would help me and started to follow me back towards the cables, but then stopped and turned around, and said he wanted to check out the person in line that was after me. Forget that I was next in line. Then he proceeded to help check out several other people while i waited by the bulk reels. .After that, he left, and went to the fishing section and helped some more people. I eventually just took the bulk reels up to the front desk and waited in line again. He then walked up and asked if I still needed cable cut and I replied yes, and he asked me to follow him towards the back. Not wanting to lose my place in line, I asked him if you would cut it up there. He said yes but then he then took the bulk reels to the back while i was in line. A different guy had come up to the front counter, and I asked if he could go ahead and ring me out for the bulk cable and of course, he said he couldn't without the SKUs. HE then blew me off and started ringing out other customers. Several minutes later, the first guy came back and ring me out with no apologies or concern.. customer service is a lost art and west marine sure hasn't found it. I called the store today and asked if my order came in. The lady said the reel came in but the rod has not. I asked if I could come in and get the reel spooled and I wanted to buy two new heaver rods for the Penn Clash 8000 reels I just bought, she told me to come in today if I wanted them spooled and I responded I could be there in about one hour. When I arrived the lady I spoke with on the phone said there is no way for me to get the reels spooled today. When I reminded her of our conversation earlier she made a face and scruged her shoulders and mentioned it was not her I spoke with. She later said she is the only woman in the store and before I walked out, she mentioned she made a mistake to the manager standing next to her. I canceled the order for the rod, I will purchase the other two rods, have them spooled, and purchase my fishing and boating supplies from someone else from now on.
