BEST DERMATOLOGIST EVER! I'll start by saying that my nearly 20 years of painful cystic acne now seems to be cured!!!..I have suffered with hormonal acne since I was 19 years old, I am now 37. In that time I have had countless cortisone injections (40+) into my face and been on every medication made for acne including antibiotics, accutane, etc... Mind you I am an Esthetician, have been since I was also 19 (ironically) and take extremely good care of my skin and wash it every single day and night... but with no cure found, I had no choice but to just wait for the next cyst to come on and then deal with it by hiding out if I couldn't get an injection. And since I have Kaiser which is not good for somebody in this situation considering it takes 3 months to get a dermatologist appointment I was Defeated and dealt with this for many years while in pain calling their office crying and begging for them to get me in to see ANYONE for an injection. The first time I called Dr. Kurlans office they said they could see me right away and that they would not charge me for an office visit but that she would give me the injection without some huge ordeal and it would only cost me $70 as a cash patient. This became the best $70 I spent over the last couple years here and there!....Then one day she was in her Encinitas location and the injection was going to have to be done by her PA which I had never dealt with. The injection he gave me was one of the least painful (just like Dr. Kurlan) which really surprised me since he was a man LOL & they tend to be rougher...! He also put me on a medication that isn't typically used for acne but helps people in my situation with hormonal acne. It transformed my skin 100% within just a couple weeks. It's been almost 2 months and everything is better. I have never been more grateful in my life! If you are in the same situation talk to the doctor about spironolactone. That is what he put me on and although he said it might take a couple months to take effect I already see a huge change in my skin after 6 weeks. And as a bonus I'm getting all these wonderful side effects like my 20 years old breats back LOL!! Please go to this...

No you don't have me for a patient. I made appointment, showed up and you turned me away. Said I never had an appointment. Front desk girl was rude. Will never go back!!

It's so nice that you take the time to respond to the negative reviews. Also I'm sure that you have a very sophisticated up to date system for your appointments. But the girl on the phone was a human. She simply made a mistake. No apologies were made! Just rude...see what I mean. Like I would take off work and drive 40min one way for nothing?? Don't worry not coming back to humans that act like this....

I needed an emergency dermatologist appointment and called a couple different dermatologists to see who could get me in the soonest. Dr. Kurlans office was amazing the second they answered the phone. They got me in that morning. The front office staff was so nice and helped me check in and get my insurance handled. The building they are in is very nice, the office is beautiful. Dr. Kurlan was AMAZING. She spent time with me and cared about coming up with a solution to my problem. This is the only dermatologist I will use from now on....
