Subject: Disturbing Incident Involving Male “Manager's” Conduct in the Workplace
I am writing this review/complaint as a concerned customer to report an unfortunate experience at your Temecula location on Rancho Pueblo on 27 Feb 2024. Upon entering the office to seek assistance, I witnessed an interaction between what I would assume is a District or Regional Manager, and the Property Manager at this location that left me quite troubled.
The male “manager” was speaking to the Property Manager in a manner that I perceived as both degrading and disrespectful. The tone was belittling, and the content of the speech seemed to be disparaging towards the Property Manager’s performance and moral character. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that this exchange occurred in front of another employee and myself as a customer, seemingly without any concern for who might overhear. He was completely unaware that I had even entered the office, used the restroom, and proceeded to wait to be helped, or the fact that I left after I had heard enough of what appeared to be disparaging assumptions and calling the Property Manager's integrity into question. It's clear this male “manager” has never walked a mile in a property manager's shoes or has an ounce of leadership experience to be in such a position that he is.
As a patron and long-time customer witnessing such behavior directly impacts my view of your brand and my willingness to continue my patronage even after several years, if this conduct is tolerated by higher. If it wasn't for the superior service and professional attitude provided by the Property Manager it would be incredibly difficult to stay with Extra Space or recommend this property to others as I have in the past.
Having had my inside unit broken into in the past I have asked Trish about security procedures and who monitors the CCTV on-site, she was more than willing to sit with me to calm my nerves and explain to me what it is she does to help deter and assist in identifying any issues with our units. I have been reluctant not to check on my unit every couple of days in the past but since Trish has been here I don’t feel that anxiety, especially over the past 7-8 months. As a security-conscious person and business owner Trish’s attention to detail with abnormalities to the property and reviewing camera footage every morning for any weird occurrences that may have taken place, it is a sense of reassurance that she cares and is doing right by us as customers. A key expectation as a customer is to enter a business that epitomizes professionalism and respect amongst all members of staff. It is discomforting to see an employee being treated poorly, which in turn raises concerns about the overall work environment and company culture that this male “manager” is being allowed to create with or without his immediate supervisor's knowledge.
I understand that managing a team can be challenging, and at times there are conversations that need to happen to address performance issues, but these must take place privately and constructively rather than publicly and in a demeaning manner. Be aware of your surroundings and focus on creating a positive mental attitude and work environment as well as constructive training rather than enjoying listening to yourself talk and throwing your obviously unearned position of power around to female employees, all while being unaware of who walked into the same airspace you are occupying at the time.

If you want to waste your money or lose your personal property then by all means rent from here. Not only are they over priced but they too pull some illegal acts by red locking your unit for an unknown reason and suspend your gate access code.Beware if someone knows or uses your gate code even if they are granted permission watch out because if they don’t like you they will lock you out from having access onto the property unless it’s on their time of office hours and they will put their own personal locks on YOUR unit without authorizing it and they will fall short of attempting to inform you of their unlawful act until found suitable for them. And furthermore you still aren’t able or allowed access to your own things on your own time it has to be on office hours and they will open and unlock for you and return at office closing hours to relook you out of your OWN storage from your own things!!! This is ridiculous for those of us whom work during the day. Not to mention now it’s been over a week since they have had my unit locked and I’ve been unable to obtain any of my belongings or work materials but now I lost my job due to this and have no way to pay for my LOCKED unit nor retrieve my stuff because Christina had a bad day and makes false accusations with poor judgement and decides to take it upon herself to make sure an innocent PAYING customer has to be punished for ...for what because my gate code was accessed by someone other than myself !!!! Really cmon!!! People get access just from the gate opening and closing and they’re not being hijacked of their units or denied of entry access!!! This is thee worst place now since new ASSISTANT management came along(Christina, Bree and Randy-not Rodney.) Rodney is awesome if he still ran the place I’m sure there’d have been no problems! Read moreI rented a storage here for one month and don’t recommend anyone ever renting here, the acting site manger Bree is rude I came to my unit and the had started construction to take the bell tower down and had set up the scaffolding right around my unit door and there construction truck blocking my way when I went in to see why I was not informed they were doing the construction and that I would not have rented the unit if I had the known both office girls stayed they had no clue either and that’s the way extra space runs there’s no site manger here now he quit he was too overwhelmed, I had to rent a U-Haul and take off a day of work I’m a nurse to move the unit due to the construction crew being extremely rude and sarcastic and stating it was not a big deal, on the day of love our I had to go in again and that when I encountered Bree who said Phil the contractor was a super great guy while he was in there chatting to her, when I went in to say debris was falling down and large chucks of Rock and I needed to love out of the unit for safety, there was no apology given or understanding of why it was a big deal, called to cooperate and no answer.
