I have been a member of this location since last year and before Covid I was also a member here. This location was very convenient for me in terms of distance. Until recently I never had an issue at this Gym, I typically work out in the early AM hours there for about an hour or a little more and go home. But one morning around 7am while I was on a Stairmaster for about 3 mins Renardo decided that it was time to flex his managerial powers and come up to me while I was ACTIVELY working out and point to a sign to "enforce" the no cell phone policy, because I was talking on my phone, again; WHILE I WAS WORKING OUT, WITH MY HEADSET ON. On top of that there was maybe 10 people in the gym, I had no one around me, everyone had their own headsets on, and there were 3 other Stairmasters not being used. I told him, I have my headset on, I am not disrupting anything, he said, "you are not supposed to be using your cellphone" and starred me down like I was being some massive dirtbag. I got annoyed and said, "you know what? I don't need this, lets cancel my membership" I got off the machine and went to the desk, Renardo took his time getting there...then when he did I told him, "cancel my membership and give me the managers phone number" , he said "I am the manager" I told him, "then give me your managers number" he said " I don't have to do that, you need to leave" I told him, " I will leave when you cancel my membership and give me your managers number!" he said again, " I am not doing that and you need to leave, I don't like the way you are talking to me"...I said," I am telling you to cancel my membership, give me your managers or corporation number, and I will go, I do not know how that is a problem?!" Yes, I was getting louder but what I was asking was not a request that should "offend" him. he said then " You can wait till 8:30 for another manager to come in then talk with them" I said, " I am not waiting an hour for a manager to talk to me, give me a contact number to your main headquarters or you manager and cancel my membership so I can leave", He replied "If you don't leave you are going to make me do this" and he flashes the HCS card with their phone, I said " Go ahead call the sheriff's office, let them come and they can tell you to give me what I am asking" He called them and as he was I did say "I guess you had a bad day cleaning the toilets" (yes, it was an insult, I was pissed) He then said " you know If I did not have this shirt on I would be taking you outside to have some words with you"...I then said, "oh, Now this has escalated to a threat?!" when he started talking to the sheriff's office I yelled out, "Yes, send a deputy, I was just threated by the employee." At that point I started calling the sheriffs office as well. Since now it has escalated to an employee of PF threatening a customer. As I was waiting on the phone a person with a PF shirt walked in, I asked if he was a manager and he said he was the DM. I proceeded to tell him about what just happened, as I did Renardo decided to come up and stand next to us, I said to Renardo "you need to go away, I am talking to him, not you !" he said "No, I'm staying," and wanted to start talking to the DM , I said again" I said you need to step away from me, you already threatened me, I am talking to him!". The Dm told Renardo to leave, and I told the DM what happened. After I went over the scenario, I told him " listen, you may have a "no cell phone" policy, but I see others talking on their cells phone more often than not, everyone is on their headsets, on top of that I see some people taking pictures of themselves and videos, and sitting at equipment surfing their cells...I never said a word, nor have I seen anyone else ever approached, but for some reason at 7am in an almost empty Gym, while I was actively using a machine with 3 others of the same type unused Renardo thought it was a good time to "enforce" rules. I also escalated this issue to Corp PF, he said they will get back...

Be sure to demand your contract on the day that you sign up. I made the mistake of agreeing to have my contact emailed to me as suggested by the front desk associate. Do to a misspelling in my email address by the associated I did not receive my contract on that day. Two days later I went to the location asking for them to resend me the contract and it did not go through. Yesterday we finally figured out that it was misspelled in their system and I had my contract sent to me. I finally went in and tried out the gym and decided it is not for me and tried to cancel my membership yesterday. In the contract you have a 3 day grace. If you decide to cancel without penalty or fee. Yesterday and an associate spoke to the general manager at the desk and the associate told me that there would not be a fee if I decided to cancel within 3 days since I just got my contract yesterday. Today when attempting the cancellation I am now subject to the cancellation fee per the manager. I will pay the fee and cancel my membership out of principle. I had considered downgrading to just the $10 a month plan because this gym is conveniently located to my new home. But after today I would much rather pay double a month and drive the extra 15 minutes to my original gym then give these people my money since they aren't willing to make a wrong a right over a misspelling on their associates part. I'll be sure to share with my friends. It's not a matter of the money it's a matter of principle. and again fully accepting that I should have demanded my contract be printed out instead of their standard where they email it out to you.

After writing this I went back inside to give the manager one last chance to review the situation and make it right. He did not. All he had to do was keep his word of what he told an employee yesterday that they would honor the fact that I did not receive the contract until yesterday and start the three day grace period then. I canceled my membership and paid the fee. I would rather continue to drive to the Anytime Fitness in Temple Terrace and pay almost double to go out of my way an extra 15 mins than support Planet Fitness. Anytime Fitness is just as judgement-free, has a wider variety of equipment, and the staff has been great for the last two years and...

This planet fitness is gorgeous! It's never overly packed and working out at night time is the best because you can use all the equipment and accessories at a faster pace :) this gym is ALWAYS SUPER Clean!!! I love that because I am OCD about dirty things especially GYMS and this gym is 5 stars on cleanliness, the night staff are great people and the MUSIC IS PHENOMENAL!!!! They actually people CURRENT MUSIC and they have a diverse type of Spanish, Hiphop, and all other types of music. The bathrooms are so gorgeous and have a "comfy home" atmosphere, I thought I was in the bathroom of an actual house. The showers are amazing and i love the size of the showers, the big changing areas and the size of the lockers! No complaints! I've been to about 5 or 6 planet fitness locations and this one is bar none, the absolute best!!!! Ohhhh they even have a "monkey bars" so i can practice for savage race and they even HAVE A ROPE TO PULL DOWN, to practice for rope climbing! How cool is that? I love this gymmmmmmm! Whoever built the blueprint for this gym FINALLY MADE A GYM, with ALL the right things in the layout. Nothing is lacking from this gym. They even have MORE SMITH MACHINES THAN ANY OTHER PLANET FITNESS! :) I can't believe living in tampa 3-4 years and I just noticed your place 2 months ago but better late...
