Over the Plate Catering & Cooking Classes — Local services in Temple

So much fun & would highly recommend! My two boys (10 & 12) were a little skeptical when I told them I signed them up for cooking classes - especially my 12 yr old who was totally embarrassed - but they had a great time after the first class and were definitely looking forward to going back to their second class! They made cake pops in their first class and sushi in another - they walked away with smiles and so excited they learned a new skill. We all agreed Kim is so kind, patient & “a great teacher” (as the boys described her when we got in the car). I stayed to watch the class and it was fun to see kids walk in as strangers and within a few minutes talk to each other as old friends - she creates such a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. My daughter-in-law joined me for Kim's cooking class, a first for both of us and it exceeded my expectations! Kim is warm and personable, and my DIL and I so enjoyed talking with her.

When I booked the class I assumed we would cook by following step-by-step as the instructor cooked, but after a quick overview of the recipes and some helpful tips from Kim, our teams of 2 couples at each station collaborated and cooked the full course meal by following the recipes on our own.

The relaxed atmosphere was conversational and interactive as we cooked, sipped wine, shared tasks, and lent input preparing our 4 recipes. The 3 hours flew by and I enjoyed our communal meal at the end with all 12 guests at the long dining table so very much! I can't say enough great things about Over the Plate Catering and Cooking Classes! My son has always enjoyed helping out in the kitchen, so I decided to sign him up for one of the classes to give him a fun and productive hobby, and it was the best decision. He absolutely loved the Asian cooking class! Not only did he learn new skills, but he also made new friends and had so much fun in the process. As soon as class ended, he was already asking me to sign him up for another one! I'm beyond grateful we found something he truly enjoys. The host is incredibly sweet, patient, and knowledgeable.
