For my first time at El Taco Jalisco, it wasn't a bad one, nor was it a too memorable one, as anyone who enjoys take-out experiences with Mexican on their list of cravings they more than provide long as your buying the daily special (Which today was Chicken Chimmichangas, they're usually around 9$ so we decided to buy two of them, me and my aunt. It came out for a total of around 14$ Averaged off.) Edit: they don't tell you about credit card surcharge, you've been warned.
We came in evening luckily after the daily lunch rush, the cashier was nice for the most part other than the few times she came off as uninformed and their head up in the clouds but I digress, the person in attendance did their job to slight confusion, serviceable at-least.
The food itself was standard, sure when we both got home we immediately went to the kitchen, added our own condiments (Sour cream, Piccante) and very briefly reheated the Styrofoam to-go container, the refried beans were standard, nothing too special- then again they're just re-fried beans, nothing really much to expect. Rice was more on the budget side, no vegetables with their structure- mainly just rice, wasn't really my complaint because I had the picante but alas, something Spanish restaurant shouldn't be neglecting, the chimmichanga was by far the highlight of the dinner, the bacon, the melted cheese - the crunch~ It came with both sour cream and Guacamole, sour cream was good, Guacamole felt watered down, purposely slush. . but In the end I really couldn't complain about it.
If you're looking for budget food at a mildly affordable price (Long as your buying the daily special) and have a Spanish craving, I'd recommend it.
However, If you have any other option than Jalisco and can afford to go elsewhere, i'd coin-flip on the choice. It was still enjoyable regardless, i'd go back there again...
Read moreSome of the staff was somewhat friendly. The cashier was very friendly, courteous and helpful. This establishment was clean. The food on the other hand, was a different story. We placed an order of breakfast tacos to go. Once arriving to pick up the order, I still had to wait for the order to be filled. I guess at this time in the morning, they were running short on food because a large portion of the tacos in the order, only had a small sliver of taco filling. The tacos were mainly just tortilla. One of our group members became sick after eating some of the breakfast tacos. He has had diarrhea since eating those tacos yesterday morning to today. The sad part about it is that he is a Hispanic born in the great state of Texas. It is not like this is the first time that he has eating a taco for God's sake. So, if you get one of these guys sick to the stomach by eating a couple of breakfast tacos, what else needs to be said? If you are hungry for tacos, I would highly recommend a different...
Read moreI have been going here for years and have spent a lot of money at the location on 31st street. Always loved it until lately. There is one guy at the drive thru window who only speaks to tell me how much it cost, never a hello or a thank you (each and every time). I say thank you when he hands me my order since he did provide a service for me, but I don't even get a you're welcome. Last few times the Chips were stale. The chili con queso is a hit of miss lately too... Sometimes it's great but other times it's so thick you could cut it with a knife. Recently it was like water. Once I get my order home, the last thing I want to do is go back. Again, until recently the food was great, so I tolerated that one rude employee. I certainly don't expect anyone to do cartwheels for my business but a thank you or a simple smile would be nice. I have always raved about this place in the past to friends and family but not anymore...Guess it's time to find a new...
