In need of plain white cardstock, I ran in here the other afternoon to see what choices were available. I am not pleased to report that choices were limited to only 3 products of packaged papers. Not a single one priced under $16.99 for 250 sheets of either 65# or 110# plain white cardstock. I'm not sure why these products are so ridiculously expensive at Office Depot, but I am sure these are entirely unreasonable to me.
We are talking about paper. Plain white paper, only the heavyweight variety. If we we're talking about Nekossa Linen Fiber in cover weight, I still wouldn't pay that much for 250 sheets--or 500 sheets...
I mean, give me a break. There are papermills all over the South, and most of them have plenty of trees planted exclusively for the purposes of their paper making. And, it's not as if paper making is any newly created process.
What justifies prices like this ($16.99 -18.99 for 250 sheets of cardstock in white) I do not know, but whatever it is, it justified my leaving without making any single purchase.
It's not likely that I will shop here again, either. If markup on paper is that outrageous, I can hardly begin to imagine what the markups must be on everything else here. ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went here to print and fax some things. I went up to an employee and told her what I wanted. She told me to just go read the sign over there in a condescending way. I don't really fax or print, which is easy, but I have to deal with my 2 phones personal and work to get two documents together. I did all that, but I had a question about being able to send two faxes together instead of separate just in case they get mixed up on the other side. I went up to the counter and was looked at a few times and blatantly ignored and walked right past. I decided to just send them separately. The lady never came up. I noticed when I came in another guy was pretty upset with her as well because of attitude. To be honest I was looking office max because you can just email them, and they just do everything. It's like Walmart. You buy stuff and check yourself out. The last time I checked I wasn't an employee, but it's okay. It looked like 3 people were running the whole store, so they're just overwhelmed. All I would say is just greet people with a smile and acknowledge folks like they're not an inconvenience and have Value. I guess $5 dollars to print two sheets of paper and fax them...
