Went today for an in-store pickup because it saved an additional 20%. Bad idea because of my temporary disability and had to use my wheelchair in order to access the store. Entered through JCPENNY which was nearly empty. My daughter pushed me past empty store after empty store. I remember when there used to be a line to enter the restrooms. Cinnabon is gone, so we had Auntie Anne’s. Sorta’ felt like Evergreen Plaza before it closed. I don’t think brick and mortar will ever be the same when you can get packages delivered to your home or office. Most of my favorite online stores already have my data stored and the ease of just click-click pay has me hooked. Too bad my daughter is so young and I’m so old that going to the Mall was THE thing to do! Sweet nostalgic memories. The owners need to do a survey and update the stores or even include other types of business ventures. I mean, it’s a great location with ample parking (a big win) and lots of potential. Giving it 3 stars because the workers at The Children’s Place, Auntie Anne’s and JcPenny were awesome. Thanks also to the kind young man who held the door open for us leaving out and the beautiful lady who helped me put my wheelchair...
Read moreIf you're searching for urban apparel, jewelry, or cell-phones and cell-phone accessories, this might be the mall for you. Likewise, if you like shopping at independent retailers, River Oaks has a number of non-franchised shops and kiosks, most fashion and CD oriented.
On the other hand, if you like a mall with diverse shops, seek elsewhere, as River Oaks lacks a number of the stores customarily seen in malls such as Spencers, Hot Topic, any bookstore, any toy store (there may be a kiosk selling toys, depending upon the season), or any gourmet shops.
Interesting shops: Mom, Dad, and Me, which specializes in Quinceanera and prom-type dresses and jewelry; Selah Collections, which has dollar-and-up jewelry, some of which are of sufficient quality/type to be repurposed in bead-craft (a nice find in an area which lacks any true craft store); and the Gateway Newsstand, whose location in the food court is a convenience to those who wish to make a quick Lotto or...
Read moreIts a garbage mall that is a shell of its former self. 10-15 Years ago this mall was very diverse and at least had a movie theater. Now it's nothing more but an indoor swap meet. Most of them are urban clothing stores which for the life of me can't understand why there are so many. There is NO diversity or variety in this place.
There is an FYE store that looks like a ghost town especially in the back of the store. Sears have abandoned this terrible mall and now it's just a big open space. Food court is probably the only redeeming place in this mall but then again with so many food places around here why bother going in there.
I down right hate this place. SIMON malls should be ashamed of themselves and it shows they don't care. If you want a better mall experience just go to Orland Park Mall where standard actually exist. There it shows SIMON cares about that...
