Just looking at YouTube and seeing how you were being harassed by some police officers in Tiburon California I like the way that you handled the situation I like the way that you stood your ground and I like the way that you took action after this exchange happen I mean you can't even be in your own store at 1:00 in the morning without someone coming in and saying hey we're doing something they must be up to something they're black and they're doing some now they didn't say black but they were basically saying we're going to racially profile these people because they're in the store and when I use that we're trying to protect people's businesses so we can go ahead and see if he owns this business I know you wouldn't have this kind of stuff going on in your own country but to be over here in America and get a chance to see how it is over here I will definitely be buying some clothes for you I hope I can do that online and I just want to thank you for the way you handle the situation you keep up the good work also to I've been to your country and I've seen how hard it is in your country and it shouldn't be that hard in this country to have a business and to just live in peace thank you for being the best people that you could possibly be in...

In addition to the content in my original review, i've come back 4 years later to my review to add that the quality of the clothing is fantastic. the pair of pants I bought from yema back in 2020 is my favourite pair of pants, and as a result i have worn them 2-4 times per-week every single week since I bought them, and i've been machine washing and drying them the whole time. the pants are still holding together well, and they are just as comfortable and beautiful as the day I bought them. with that consideration, I would have to note my previous descriptor of the clothing being "worth the splurge" is a bit inaccurate in the best way imaginable. any clothing item that lasts this long with this many wears (and is still going) is worth FAR more than what yema is charging, making their clothing a fantastic deal. I plan in the future (potentially the near future, finances willing) to purchase more from this brand, as a durable and long lasting clothing piece, with beautiful design and refined construction, with proceeds of the purchase going to childhood education in kenya and ethiopia commands the highest respect I can provide.

I had the opportunity/privilege to stop in here and visit with Yema while visiting family in May. The store is interesting (I love the giraffes) and its great knowing some of the proceeds go toward education in Ethiopia and Kibera. Yema's spirit and outlook are refreshing. We had a good chat about his experiences here (and unfortunately the discrimination experienced from the police years ago) and his continued optimism and generosity that persists is inspiring to say the least. Tiburon is lucky to have Yema and his family, and their shop, in their town as it adds some much needed diversity and overall positive influence.
