Disclaimer: I tried to contact chef few times via a phone before writing my review. I got reply she was busy and can't find time to get a feedback. Good things first: -service personnel is trained and trying to make your dining experience impeccable music in the terrace creates welcoming atmosphere And now about food: mussels were done to perfection. Fresh, soft and full of flavor boiled ribs with BBQ sauce were a ok. I guess you can't go wrong with French fries except they are seriously overpriced. You could get a portion of regular potatoes at $8 and no, no truffle oil or any fancy is provided to justify these markup. burrata salad. How could you call a salad one piece of soft cheese with 2 figs? Tavern is charging $13 for this. farro salad with side of chicken. Salad was fine but chicken itself was impossible to eat. It was tasteless and hard to chew. I had a feeling I am trying to eat shoe sole. airline chicken aka THE Tasteless Chicken EVER. I guess it was boiled without any salt or pepper and just browned later. No spices, no salt, no pepper It was very awkward dish. They should just throw it away instead of charging $26. I know Tiburon is an expensive town and no point in complaining about price of food there. I don't mind paying a good money for good food. In my experience the quality of food served does not...
Read moreSince we were staying at the Tiburon Lodge on the New Year Eve, we decided to dine at the Tiburon Tavern and were excited to see that they had a special prefix menu and were looking forward to a festive night in. Once we sat down for dinner (at 8pm), it quickly became obvious that despite the fact that the pre-fix menu was $85 per person with no other menu options available, the only concern the staff appeared to have was to get done with our meal and go home as quickly as possible. We had not finished our starters, when the main course arrived. The main course plates were slapped down in front of us and nobody followed up and cleared the starter plates afterwards. We were half way thru our main course, when a bus boy stopped by and asked our daughter if she is done - she said yes - they packed up her to go box, while the rest of us where still eating. The desert was served a couple of minutes after and a plate of half-eaten cheese cake was cleared from one of our guests while she had turned away from the table. The food was barely mediocre and the atmosphere incredibly rushed while our bill was over $500, which would have been OK for a special festive dinner out, however, in this case, we felt trapped into a mediocre and incredibly rushed meal with one of the worst service experiences we have had...
Read moreI was totally ignored for the first 10 minutes. Apparently a couple of locals saw at the bar, who also made fun of me, that I sat down alone at a table. After unfriendly looks and strained ignoring, the waiter who was standing behind the bar all the time came to me with the menu. Here I was then informed that it would not be until 5 p.m. in just under an hour to eat. Unfortunately, this was not visible to me in the Intermet, as I was only looking for restaurants that are open. That's why I assumed it would. I was not asked whether I would like to have a drink, as I was apparently already very annoying. Far be it from me to demand that the cook start earlier. Since the gossip at the counter continued, I didn't feel like studying the menu anymore and was glad that I didn't get a chance to order something to drink. Then I left and was laughed at. Nothing so outrageous has ever happened to me. Overseas tourists are apparently not...
