City Center Food Mart — Local services in Tigard

This place charges way over the other convenience stores in the area and the staff who work are bizarrely weird...I asked to buy a lighter and was asked for id which I wasn't expecting as I'm over 40 and haven't been asked for id to buy a lighter for longer than I can even remember and the woman working said, fine, I'll just go ahead and lose my job to sell you that lighter, at which I said uh, nope, that's ok, it's not that serious l, I don't need a lighter that bad, and then she insisted on actually selling it to me anyhow, which the whole interaction was weird and gave me this ladies on drugs vibes, because it was totally bizarre and just made no sense..why say something like that only to insist on selling me the item anyhow? And how should I have known that not having my id to buy the lighter would be some sort of issue? Like I was expected to know it would be an issue, except that it really wasn't because she insisted on selling it to me even after I declined to buy it multiple times she insisted and refused to take no for an answer, I'll just take my business elsewhere to avoid weird ass interactions like this.. After thinking on it it seemed like she may have gotten busted for selling stuff to minors before, I don't know but will just shop elsewhere. They also stopped serving hot food which was the reason I liked going there because they had stuff the other convenience stores around here don't have but now that they're not selling that stuff it's just not worth going in there to pay the prices on stuff they have when it's dollars cheaper just two blocks away. Also the young guy working is rude for reasons I've no idea and just deciding to spend my money elsewhere for all these reasons and more. Save yourself a few bucks and weird customer service and shop...

Watched my favorite employee to ever work there slowly go insane trying to keep working as the owner fired everyone. They have one employee now and the worst part is the owner thinks it’s not his fault his store is failing. If he treated people right this store would be fully staffed and his staffs mental health and morale would be through the roof. Owner is a good guy but not a very good boss from what I’ve observed. I love the beer and alcohol prices at this store so I will continue to return but I will definitely tell all the employees to quit as soon as they can and I will NEVER let my kids work here now. He also often has expired food and other products that he still sells. Chocolate is always melted in the summer too, only good for nicotine and alcohol purchases. I was also just told by a kid at the transit center that he smoked meth with the employee Crystal and his mom🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ ridiculous the amount of drug addicts that have worked at this place. The one he just fired used to sit outside and smoke bowls and bowls of tabaco on shift and she’s not even old enough to have tabaco 😂 this store is doomed...

I go to this store very often, I wanna say maybe 3-5 times a week. Upon reading reviews I realize that some of them are blatant and untrue.There’s no bad management, and if that’s the case some things are out of their hands, it’s evident that they care for their store and are willing enough to care about anything. I’ve never had a bad experience but when I do it’s usually cause of other customers. A couple months back someone stole something, I was about to be ringed up when the owner was like “hold on one sec please” he ran and got back what the lady stole.
