We took my partners grandmother out for Mother's Day. It was minutes after 8 pm., there was not many people. I counted 4 tables with customers. We were seated. The waitress left chips and salsa. We started to eat them thinking the water would follow-up. 5 minutes later the water still didn't show up. Finally I flagged the waitress down for water. In between ordering and our food arriving the waitress stopped once to check on us. We had to ask her to refill the chips. I was already annoyed with water deal, more so because the restaurant was not busy and there was 4 to 5 waitresses walking around, but nowhere near our table. Our food arrived and my order of Tilapia fish was too fried and hard to eat. I bagged it for our dog. My partners Al Pastor tacos were very very greasy, the tortilla was falling apart, and the beans & rice were an island away in separation from the tacos on this huge blue platter. A 6inch plate or smaller would have been better for displaying this meal. It was ridiculous and unflattering. I had to wave down a waitress and ask for water refills. We waited 20 minutes before I finally asked for a check and bag because no one checked on us. When the waitress arrived at our table I asked if the manager/owner was available and she stated that she was the manager for the shift. When I spoke to her I was speaking to her in English and she was having a very hard time to communicate, so I started speaking to her in Spanish and I asked her if she was the manager and she mentioned that she was a manager for the shift and said "What's was the problem?" I said "The problem" is that since we arrived here the service has been horrible and told her about all the issues. She was clearly upset and you can tell her apology was not authentic. She was also upset because I asked for the owners name. I told her I was not mad but that I was very disappointed because we drove quite a bit and the service and food was not great. At minimum I expected an authentic apology or discount from our bill for there lack of service and food quality. I left no tip. They were not busy. Service was horrible. They deserve no stars. If you're in a management position in an area that predominately has Caucasians I highly suggest that you have someone that could deal with the issues that are encountered through any shift for the betterment and sake of your business. I could deal with the bilingual exchange and I'm okay with it, but others can't and won't, so I suggest you staff as needed. Not the place you want to spend your money on. Instead cross the street over to Sanchez Tacos. Way...
Read moreBummer. I was visiting a friend in tigard and thought I remembered this place being good, so we went. bad idea. I cant really speak to my friends food, but i got the steak fajitas. It looked great on the menu and I wanted so badly for it to be good. When our food came to the table i could tell right away that the fajitas were in fact not going to be good. The steak was real thin and way over cooked. Chewy and bland. I get doing a basic a cook for other things with steak in it like burritos and tacos and stuff, but when it's the focus of the meal you expect it to look and taste better, especially when it's $18 and looks like a nice medium rare on the menu. Also, the guac was barely mashed and didnt have a whole lot of flavor either. Just tasted like avocados, really, and they might've been under ripe ones. Tasted like it, and when i went to scoop some of the guac onto my plate, I almost took the rest of the guac with me because there was a giant unmashed slab of avocado that acted like a raft for the rest of the guac when i picked it up lol. Again, i cant speak for my friends food, but no one finished what they got, which is a rarity w those guys lol. I dont believe in giving one stars, but if you want to get good mexican food, id say go somewhere else. Maybe their drinks are worth it idk. It was a let down, especially for a cute little sit down joint and especially- especially for $90 for 3 people. That's without drinks btw, except for a lemonade and a coke. Staff was nice...
Read moreOn Saturday, March 10, I decided to go have dinner (around 7:30 p. m.) to a restaurant close to my hotel in Tigard, so I chose El Guajillo. I entered the place, and 2-3 of the waiting staff were standing by the kitchen door across from the entrance, on the other side of the dining room. One of them, instead of approaching me, as in any other restaurant, she yelled from there "how many?", and after I signaled that it was just me, she said she'd find me a table, and moved into a second dining room to her left (the main dining room was crowded, but there are other rooms, the place is large) saying she'd find me a table. 1, 2, 3, 4 minutes passed, nobody came back to take me to a table, and I saw the waitress who was supposedly trying to find me a table waiting on other tables, as if she had forgotten about me; by then, everyone sitting at the tables next to the door, where I was still standing, was staring at me uncomfortably, so I turned around and left.- The overall feeling I had, was that the restaurant staff felt uncomfortable that I had the intention of dining by myself, because all of the diners, as far as I could see, were families and groups of people. No restaurant should discriminate, yell at you when you enter the place, and leave you waiting for minutes, ignoring you, simply because you commit the sin of showing up...
