I had noticed that this stand changes names, so I figured it was a fresh start and was hopeful for a positive change. Had I gone to my review here and noticed that it followed to the new business (which may or may not indicate no change in ownership, not sure), I probably wouldn’t have given it another try. Again I tried a 20 oz. caramel latte, and unfortunately my experience was far worse. Honestly, this was the absolute worst espresso drink I have ever had. The only way I can describe it is “burnt water with a bitter aftertaste”. I thought it was just the foam on top (sometimes that’s very bitter), but the main drink is just not good in any way. No sweet, no caramel, no creamy/milky texture, and the burnt isn’t even a bitter coffee burnt, as I don’t taste coffee either. I see that this place gets high reviews from a lot of people, so perhaps I have just been unlucky, but the bad is so bad I don’t see how that’s possible. I’ve now spent ~$15+ here and have been able to down about 2 ounces across both drinks; I’m never going back again. I hope your experience is better than mine if you choose to give it a go.
Original Review: I decided to try the Tigard location based on the glowing reviews here, and because I like trying local places more than the big Star** I ordered a 20 oz caramel latte with dark roast coffee, which is shown as having 3 shots of dark espresso. Now, having just come off of the holidays and having some of my homemade specialties being caramel, toffee, and peanut brittle, I am no stranger to sweet things. This latte was so insanely sweet that I didn’t taste the espresso at all, other than a somewhat-bitter finish. I’m not kidding, it was as if they filled the cup with a slightly-coffee-flavored syrup and put the lid on. I couldn’t even finish it unfortunately, and I don’t remember the last time I didn’t finish a latte. I’m still giving this 3 stars out of kindness, as the barista was very friendly and I know that there are bad days, but based on my experience this is nowhere near 5 stars, and I won’t go back...
Read moreWeird experience. My partner ordered a drip coffee with 2 espresso shots. They said that was fine. I ordered the large mexi mocha. The one lady said we smelled good. After a few minutes, we got the “espresso and drip”, which my partner tasted, and thought was weird - we asked if it was espresso and drip coffee, to which the other barista said “we don’t have drip coffee” - So she made us an americano, without just telling us she couldn’t make a black eye. Seems like an important detail if that’s what we tried to order, and what she affirmed. My mocha was syrupy and thick, not good at all.. AND it was $9.75! Way too overpriced. They were also insistent on selling us Colombian food, even though we declined 3-4 times. We spent nearly $20 for a drink we didn’t ask for, and another drink that was horribly overpriced and not good quality.
I see now that all the positive reviews of this place are from when it was Cranky b4 coffee, and not Kyn’s. Kyn’s does not seem to live up to the previous...
Read moreUpdate: Yeah, $50 a day is unfortunately not doable for most people. Thanks for your response! . I decided to try a more local spot instead of my usual Starbucks. The young lady working there was lovely—friendly and quick to offer recommendations. She suggested trying some Colombian food, which we accepted. We ordered two coffees—a caramel macchiato and an iced chai tea latte, both with oat milk—and two orders of Colombian pastries (a croissant-style filled with chicken meat).
While the food and drinks were enjoyable, the total came to $50, which was quite surprising. That’s about four times more than I usually spend at Starbucks for a similar outing.
Overall, it was a nice one-time experience, but I wouldn’t return due to the high cost and non disclosure cost of each item. It didn’t quite feel like it delivered enough value...
