Portland Gear Washington Square — Local services in Tigard

I want to start by saying the products here are genuinely great. However, the in-store experience at the Washington Square location is extremely off-putting. The employees bombard you. You’ll have six people on the floor, and each one comes up one after another asking, “Is there something you’re looking for?”—sometimes overlapping each other. It’s inches and seconds apart from the last person.

If anything is going to drive customers out the door, it’s feeling pressured like you’re being recruited into an MLM. Please tone it way down. Shopping for an already overpriced sweatshirt should never feel overwhelming. If I need a size, I promise I’ll ask. You don’t need to start guessing my shoe size—especially after I’ve already told you (and six others) that I’m just browsing.

Honestly, if I were 65+ in that store, I’d be stressed out by employees bouncing around trying to get a sale.

I highly recommend shopping online if you like the product. The in-store experience just feels pushy and borderline scammy with all the pressure...

Just left Portland Gear in WA Square mall and saw a hat that I might still think about purchasing, if I get a decent response to my experience via this review. When I walked in there were 3 employees visible at the counter w/one customer checking out. Nobody greeted me at all. Then when two women walked in pretty soon behind me, one of the workers made a literal B line to them, not only greeted them but ushered them around the store with pleasure. I finished my look around solo and left the store. Idk the reason for this, but it was unprofessional and offputting to say the least. I look forward to seeing if anyone at Portland Gear actually cares that potential customers are actively...

Surprised our son with a Portland Gear cascade standard size backpack for Christmas. I was tired of seeing him “struggle” to open his old North Face backpack to get things in & out of it. I love how wide this backpack opens, the boy can now see everything & the side pockets are awesome for his large wide refillable water bottles. It’s a great organizer! I hope he gets many years of use from it. He’s a junior in college at the moment. We had one small order issue and customer service went above & beyond to assist. Will be doing more business with Portland Gear in the future....
