Edit: May 30th, 2022. Aldi's Totowa has worked through their growing pains of a new store opening and have really stepped up. Cashier line may appear long, but it moves very quickly. Staff has stepped up too. Aldi's Totowa is a winner! Up to Five Stars!
Edit: Jan 4, 2023. Back down to two stars. One step forward, two steps back. Aldi's Totowa was doing great with keeping the checkout line moving, but they screwed that up ROYALLY. They recently removed the staffed registers for self checkout and the self checkout does NOT accept cash. If you pay in cash, then you'll be subjecting yourself to what is typically another LONG LINE because now they only have one staffed register. Back down to two stars.
I love Aldi's and the concept of a discount staple food store that doesn't require bulk buying. They don't have everything you could ever need. It isn't a mega-super-giga store. They have the basics and the basics have great prices. Prices on their limited selection is exceptional and you don't walk two miles inside the store just for eggs and bread. This store is still possibly experiencing growing pains as some of the employees aren't the most knowledgeable or friendly. There are several that are amazing, but those aren't the cashiers. Read moreFalse advertising, I have buying frozen vegetables bags here for a long time. Season's Choice Steamed California Medley, broccoli , cauliflower and carrots. Originally the vegetables were perfect for what I want, so I buy a complete box that lasts two weeks. Last year the packaging changed and the quality plummeted, almost no broccoli, instead a lot of stem and stalk. So I stopped buy it. I can recognize the good quality bag from the lower quality one. The good bag is rectangular and the bad quality one is square. Aldi brought back the original, so I started buying it again. 3 weeks ago they did it again. the bad quality bag is back. I didn't realize that I bought the bad quality ones till I put it on the table to eat. I asked one of the managers at this location about the change she blamed it on the manufacturer, So I investigated and found that this product is made exclusively for Aldi. So I contacted Aldi directly and I received a form letter saying that they will review my request and contact me if it was approved. Never heard from them so I decided to give them this review. Read moreI had a truly horrible experience at Aldi in Totowa, NJ, where I was treated in an incredibly rude and unprofessional manner by an employee who claimed to be the manager. Another customer falsely accused me of cutting the self-checkout line, even though I had been waiting in another aisle. Instead of taking the time to understand the situation, the cashier immediately yelled at me, snatched my items, and ordered me to leave the store. She even threatened to call the police on me for no reason. When I calmly asked for her name and to speak with a supervisor, she first refused, then later claimed her name was "Marian" and that she was the manager. She was not wearing a name tag, so I cannot verify if this was true. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. No customer should be treated like this.
