Home to their signature veal chop, this establishment located at a strip mall off of Minnisink Road in Totowa is where a couple of my friends and I were looking for a new place to try our Sunday dinner and happily ended up at Robert’s Scratch Kitchen. Reservations are highly recommended and easily done with OpenTable. Upon arrival, the interior was elegant without being too stiff or stuffy. We were graciously greeted by the host, and so began our delicious dining experience. We were seated within a few minutes. The menu consisted of a variety of Italian, seafood, steak, pork, and veal dishes that changed with the seasons. The use of an iPad to show the rotated specials was a novel idea. For appetizers, we decided to share the fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms, burrata eggplant, and crab cake. As our entrees, we opted for Rigatoni, consisting of fresh pasta, crumbled Italian sausage, peas, crushed red pepper, pink sauce, shaved parmesan, Linguini and Clams, Branzino, and Short Rib Pasta. Complimentary warm bread with butter started our meal. Being a “scratch kitchen," the food was served and made with the freshest ingredients, meaning that there were no frozen or processed foods used in preparing meals for patrons. The food was delicious, and the portions were plentiful. Throughout the meal, the staff, including our servers Danielle and Juan, were attentive without being excessive and did a great job of making sure we were all comfortable. The dinner price was fair for a nice, quality meal. The fact that it is also a BYOB is a bonus. There are a lot of really good restaurants in this area, but this has to be one of the best, so we can...

I am very surprised how this restaurant has such a good reviews and high ratings… Our experience unfortunately was very disappointing… We had a reservation and we were seated right away, but then we were waiting 20 minutes for the waitress to show up to our table. First she wasn’t friendly and pleasant at all, not Smiling or checking to our table…the other server was helping us much more and he was very nice. Our waitress showed us the specials on the tablet and came back after another 10 minutes to take our order. When I have asked her for the price of the tuna special she wasn’t even sure about the price but she said is between $27 and $30 - I was charged $36… My husband ordered filet mignon medium to medium-well and came out very well done, dry and with no taste at all. My Tuna was so salty that was disappointing and does not have any flavor. We paid $141 for 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes that we didn’t liked at all..To be honest for this kind of dishes and terrible service from the rude waitress I think it’s pretty expensive. You can have much better quality of food, services and ambience for that amount of money. Our waitress came to our table just 2 times the entire night, to ask how is everything and she was not even waiting for us to give her an answer, she never refill our waters and I asked for lemon that she has never brought to the table. My husband is a slow eater, but she was rushing him ti take his plate even he said to her he is still working… Not a pleasant experience, I am very sad that I got fooled by the good reviews. Not recommended and not...

A Culinary Feast with Impeccable Service at Robert's Scratch Kitchen Robert's Scratch Kitchen is an absolute gem, delivering an unforgettable dining experience that lives up to its name. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting, but the true star of the show is the combination of incredible food and super attentive service. For our appetizers, we started with the oysters and mussels, and they were both phenomenal. The oysters were incredibly fresh, tasting as if they'd been plucked from the sea just minutes before. The mussels were plump and tender, served in a light, flavorful broth that was perfect for dipping. For the main courses, the filet was cooked to absolute perfection, tender and juicy with a beautiful sear. My dining companion had the lobster pasta, which was a work of art. The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the lobster was sweet and plentiful, all coated in a rich, creamy sauce that wasn't too heavy. The service throughout the evening was a highlight. Our server was exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring every need was met without being intrusive. It was clear the entire staff takes pride in providing a top-notch experience. Robert's Scratch Kitchen is the kind of place you'll want to visit for a special occasion, or simply when you want to treat yourself to a truly fantastic meal. The quality of the ingredients and the obvious skill of the kitchen team, paired with the impeccable service, made this meal an...

We threw a surprise 50th anniversary party for my mother and father here yesterday, 10/28. I cannot say enough praise for Robert and his staff. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Lots of soft gold touches and the perfect backdrop for a golden anniversary. The tables were beautifully set up for us, along with an area for beverages, and another for decorations and gifts. The staff was super attentive, making sure everything was to our liking and that we had our glasses full! 🙂 The party menu gives you an array of choices. We went with the cold antipasto, which was a nice variety, and the ginger calamari which was outstanding. The penne w/vodka was top notch, and we chose a seasonal salad, since it is fall.. apples, blue cheese crumbles, and walnuts. Our main course was a choice of chicken franchese, Alaskan cod, or strip steak. Portions were plentiful, and our guests were raving about the food! Even more so, some of our guests really appreciated the gluten free accommodation, as often times at places, the choices can be limited or bland. Not here. Several guests of our party said they love to return for dinner. I myself, have to agree. We surely will return. Thank you again, to Robert and his staff, for making this day so special for my family and I!

Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. We went here with a group of nine and everything was excellent. Jose and his team were very attentive and welcoming. We got a couple orders of the fried calamari as part of our appetizer and it was some of the best we've ever had: very tender and lightly fried (so it wasn't very heavy or too filling); and the ginger sauce was a welcomed change to the usual marinara (which is still available on request if that's what you prefer). A number of us ordered the pork chop parmesan vodka special which was huge and delicious. They can also make the veal chop the same way upon request, which was also huge and delicious. Also, this place is BYOB so we brought our own wine and saved a few bucks. One thing that we had never seen before but appreciated: they used an iPad to display photos of the specials as they were describing them. It may sound odd, but it was really helpful. And it worked because we ordered a number of the specials. We couldn't have been happier with the experience. I'm already looking forward to going back and trying some of the other items.
