Athena Greek Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Babylon

I try not to let one experience dictate a restaurant, for many reasons. The food is great as well, when prepared correctly. The last 3 times I’ve ordered, all orders are not correct. In the past I got an attitude with the owner, now he just tells me it’s miscommunication. My girlfriend placed the order, and specifically said it clear and we reread the order to the owner, to avoid an issue. We get home and of course not just my order, but here’s was made wrong. 3 orders in past 2 months, super frustrating especially when the owner gets out of character or straight up “misheard”. Years ago, he raised his voice at me when I asked for a few separate items to be bagged separately. An argument over separately 2 gyros. I stopped going for years and gave them another chance. Seems this owner has an issue with customer service. From the reviews I’ve read to my own experiences, unfortunate a successful kitchen falls short of excellence, due to borderline dysfunctional operation/owner management and...

I am not sure where to begin. The food has definitely suffered in recent years since the business changed owners. I still ordered as it's a restaurant in my hometown.

I had received a gift certificate. I had a balance of $5 I tried to use this on an order, but they refused because it had expired. As they could see I was using it as deductions were coming off the original purchase price. I have been a customer since I was a child!

The owner refused to accept it. As I asked why he got absolutely nasty with me with an arrogant attitude. I let him know he is losing my family as a loyal customer after years over $5. He told me the decision is mine.

This place used to be packed all the time. Now I go in you are lucky if two tables are full. Same name DIFFERENT RESTAURANT!

Think twice before going to this place!

I also have ordered a salad from here with undercooked chicken where my sister in-law and I got sick. When we called the owner same arrogant man refused to refund us...

July 2016 Where to start. I have always enjoyed the food here. Unfortunately, staffing seems difficult for this little gem. The owner seems gruff and overworked, so highly recommend setting a pretty table and order to take out. because the results and the portions are to be recognized. It's true you can have Greek salad, Gyro and Spanakopita anywhere but Athena makes an authentic and loaded Greek salad. Try it with the marinated chicken sovlaki. The homemade tzasiki sauce is fabulous. I. suggest you definitely widen your experience with some other original dishes. Highly recommend Shrimp Corfu yum! For my husband the meat eater he loved the lamb shanks, so special. Chicken Meli is great but the Chicken Pandora is so Original and crazy good. I can go on & on. Oh definitely don't forget the falafel or their hoummus...
