ZERO STARS! I only gave this review one star because my message would not post without one. I left an oak bow-backed windsor dining chair with John for repair at the end of Oct '22. Two spindles needed to be re-set into the seat and the bow back had a small crack in it. Both his business and cell phone mailboxes were always full and I could not leave messages. My contacts with him were by text. In Dec '22 I began sending messages every month or so asking for a progress report. Once in a while I would get a cryptic response - (" need to make a spindle", "OK ", "next week." I'll call you" "Out today" "Will try for next week", " Dental stuff", "Yes") , but mostly he ignored my messages and never called. In Nov '23 (a full year later) I asked how the repair was going as I might need extra seating for holiday guests - he sent me photos of chairs he was selling! I then suggested that perhaps this was not meant to be and he could just let me have the broken chair back so I could find someone else to repair it . He replied "Next week." Next week came and went. I contacted him in early Feb '24, explained that I thought I had been more than patient and again suggested he should let me have the unrepaired chair back. He said he would call me to arrange a pick up time - he never did. The same pattern continued into June, when he responded to one of my messages saying he had sent my chair off to a woodworker! I asked if he could put me in touch with the woodworker directly - no response. At the end of June '24 I was able to leave a voice message explaining that I was heading out of state in August ( I gave him a specific departure date) and wanted to collect my chair before leaving. Sent a message a week before my departure and again every day right up until the day before my leave date when he finally responded. I ended up staying behind a day in order to get my chair. His final text to me was that a driver had dropped the chair in front of the shop and that cameras would record me picking up the chair!! As though I was the one somehow in the wrong in this situation. He had my chair for 21 months (almost 2 years!). I did not expect to find my chair repaired, but was shocked to find my chair in pieces on the sidewalk in front of his shop! SHAME...
Read moreDo not use this company. Gave estimate to fix dining room table in early Sept.. Agreed on price of $400 to fix the slides and gave $200 deposit to John. After a month and half with couple of no shows and excuses John shows up to fix table week before Thanksgiving. After fixing table he the asks for another $400. After a short argument on not honoring his estimate John proceeds to dismantle my table and leaves. This man and his company is a very dishonorable organization. Still have not received our $200...
Read moreJon did a beautiful job repairing and reupholstering my kitchen chairs. The true value of his work can be seen in my couch cushions. I had given them a “bath” and I managed to mess up the cushions’ interior filling. Jon came the same day, picked everything up and one week later returned with the finished cushions and chairs. In this day of fast fashion furniture, it is a great experience to work with a craftsman like Jon who restores pieces that are keepers. His work and his friendly manner are highly...
