I went to their grand opening yesterday. As excited as I was, I have to admit that I was pretty underwhelmed. The woman at the door made me sign the waiver online, which was fine. Then she told me to have fun, but didn't really explain how it worked or where I was supposed to go. So I figured that I'd stand behind a table and wait for a turn. They weren't really regulating how many throws each patron got before it was someone else's turn, but that didn't end up being an issue as the patron before me was courteous and made sure I had a turn. One thing that bothered me was that not once did anyone remind me to WAIT before going to retrieve my axe, and make sure nobody else was throwing, which is a huge safety concern. As it should be common sense for many, some people don't have that common sense.
Overall, I feel like the employees should be taking more time with each individual to show them proper axe holding techniques, help them figure out the best distance to be standing away from the target for the best shot, and for them to put more emphasis on safety, rather than having them sign a waiver online and get people in the door. Might give it a try later down the road when they smooth things out and train their employees a...
Read moreI had a good time. The place is ok.
I understand this may sound weird but, the axes are very heavy, at least for me and that's why I didn't enjoy it much, my arm is sore. My friend on the other hand, is strong and tall and had no issues throwing her axe. If there was any possibility of having smaller axes or lighter ones, that'd be great.
There's one safety issue that shouldn't be overseen and that happened to experience as well: When I was writing down my score on the little board that is hanged in between the lanes, the guys on the next lane on my right were throwing their axes, and one of the axes hit my foot. Nothing serious though, but my 2 toes hurt and I think this is the main reason why I am giving it a low star rating.
I think there should be more space in between lanes to avoid this from happening, I know that accidents occur and I happened to be on the spot.
Other than that, the activity is great for stress relief or just to have 45min of intense...
Read moreMy experience was amazing! I went with my parents in the morning on Sunday; we were the only people there so it was a very personal and thorough experience. You get 2 hours for what you pay for which is a GREAT deal! All of the other places I checked out only give you an hour so this place definitely wins in the cost department, but I was really impressed with the service we got. The instructor was really good; he was patient, informative, and friendly. This is something to do for the whole family. They were able to teach my parents the form and they were hitting bullseyes within 10 minutes. We had some fun with trick shots at the end and they had some solid refreshments as well. I will definitely go back here with another party because the games they created make the event so much easier. If anyone wants to go axe throwing in the Upstate/Central New York area, this is the place to go! I came all the way down...
