Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Town of Camillus

When Popeyes first opened at this location, the initial reviews were very negative. Customers reported that lines to order were long, that once ordered the delivery of the food was slow, and that the quality of the food was not as good as that at other Popeye locations. Although I live near Township 5, I waited several months before first visiting this site to give them a chance to work out their problems. I thought they had succeeded, because I enjoyed the meal and gave the restaurant four stars in my initial review. However, I recently returned to find that although there were no longer any lines, the service was slow and the food was not what you would hope for. Even though no one was ahead of me when I pulled up to the take-out window, I was asked to pull ahead to wait for my order. After about 15 minutes I backed up to the window and asked how much longer it would be. I was told that I would have my food in one minute. I pulled forward again and waited another 8 minutes before the food was brought out. I ate in the parking lot. The order did not have the ketchup I'd requested, nor were napkins provided. Also, the drink was not what I had ordered. The shrimp and chicken tender combo was also disappointing. Small shrimp were covered with a thick coating that was not crisp. The chicken tenders were anemic. Thin shredded pieces of chicken, like the shrimp, were thickly coated and not crisp. The shrimp, chicken, and a side of cajun fries we're all at ambient temperature. Overall, it was the worst fast food experience I have ever had. My advice is if you want excellent chicken tenders hop on 695 East and drive two miles to Tully's at Fairmount Fair, and if you want outstanding fried shrimp, drive an additional mile east on Genesee Street to the Fish Cove in Westvale Plaza. I went to Poppies last Sunday and had an awful experience. I went through the drive thru and ordered a 3 tender meal with cost over $12. When I opened the box there was 1 tender and 2 small dried up pieces of breading about 1 inch long. I had to go back through line and they did give me more tenders. The problem was the next day I realized they never gave me back my credit card. I called last Monday and the manager said she had it. Just before I got there I checked my online bank statement and saw they had charged almost $30 extra on my card without my permission. When I brought it up they made me talk to owner who was quite rude on the phone. He refused to refund my money that night. He said I had to come back in 48 hours to see if my bank credited it. I went back Friday and the manger refused to refund my money again. She called the owner again and he tries to say that since I had no receipt they couldn’t refund me. I showed them my bank statement again and asked how I’d have a receipt if I wasn’t even the one that made the charges and further more, had they given me a receipt for the &12 order they would have given my card back but they obviously never gave me a receipt. After a great deal of arguing they refunded me $27 out of the money they owed! This is unacceptable...

Addendum: If I’m going to complain about previous visits, it is only right to commend for future positive visits. Today, I ordered a 12 piece family meal. They were quick and efficient. Such a good experience I asked to speak with the manager and say thank you for the best service I’ve ever had at this location. Moving forward, I will continue to visit this location although I may temper my expectations on more popular items that are often out of stock.

Out of flounder sandwich. Out of shrimp combo. Ok, fine. Order spicy 3 piece tender combo. Get to window to pay . “Sorry. We are out of spicy. You can have mild or wait 10 minutes. (I’ve waited too long for similar before). Fine. I’ll take that. I guess I’ll deal. Get home and for $11 (counting tax) is 3 tenders, approximately 16 fries, and a biscuit that I had to reheat despite living a 3 minute drive from the store. Photo attached.
