Love me some @Toss & Fire Wood-Fired Pizza ✌🏼❤️🍕 I definitely recommend trying both the neapolitan style and Detroit style. #syracuse#camillus#township5#centralnewyork#upstatenewyork#glutenfree

On a Tuesday evening, I decided to try out a wood-fired oven pizza at Toss and Fire. When I arrived, I was happy to learn that Tuesday is the day of the week when they offer a discount. In addition, they kindly agreed to honor a coupon that I had received from them in the mail. I placed an order for a pepperoni New York style pizza. They were very busy at 5:30 p.m., perhaps because of the Tuesday discount, but I found a place to sit and my pizza was delivered to my table within 20 minutes. The pepperoni was cooked the way I like, curled and slightly singed on the edge. The sauce was was very good and the mozzarella stretchy and tasty. However, the shortcoming of the pie was the crust. The part under the toppings was okay, but the thick edge, without topping, was not worth eating in my opinion. Perhaps it was a little undercooked. Also, I failed to ask if they could provide a small portion of sauce for dipping the crust and that might have made a difference. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. But there are so many other places in Syracuse, such as Varsity Pizza, Apizza Regionale, and CopperTop, that consistently serve outstanding pizzas, I don't know how soon I'll return. Also, the restaurant was loud, brightly lit, and the seating very closely spaced. So, it's fine for a quick dine-in or takeout meal on the way home from work or after a movie at the nearby Movie Tavern, but it's not a place that has any kind of ambience.

Went there for the first time on Sunday. We've been wanting to try them for a while now. Have heard amazing things! But the price has kept us at bay. We finally took the dive. Ordered online which was easy to use and navigate. I was a bit fan of their online ordering. I ordered a 12" pickle pizza with roasted red peppers added and a 16" Philly pizza. Our total was in the high 40s with a tip. We had timed the pizza for 1:15, I got text messages saying the order had been submitted. Everything was going well well no issues. Then 1:04 I got a text saying our order was ready. I completely understand it's hard to time orders, you can't make it perfect but 11 minutes early isn't really acceptable. I timed it because I'd rather wait a couple minutes for a hot pizza then pick up one that's been sitting there. The store was clean and the staff was nice I would like to add. Next came the issues of the sizes of the pizza. Our 12" was barely over 10. And our 16" was also small. I've read through the reviews and seems this is a common issue. I was happy to pay the price until I saw I lost a significant amount of bites due to how small the pizzas were. It's very clear to, I can't believe the pizza maker didn't remake them or offer a discount. We drove out of our way to try them and was not impressed. I don't plan on going back. I didn't reach out to the store because we live 30 minutes away and didn't want to go back out. Also the fact that the sizes are issues with multiple people make me think it could be an issue in the future as well. The pizza was delicious! I just wish we got all that we paid for.

*Update: the owner reached out to me personally about my concerns with our visit. He was very courteous and understanding. Amazing customer service from him.* The food is very good. Unfortunately, I truly cannot rate them 5 stars simply because they have priced themselves out of my cost range, and the consistent inefficiency of staffing. One cashier was also the beer guy so the entire 10+ mins I was in line he only helped 1 customer. The other cashier was helping people in between taking food to tables. There were 7 people making the food. Seems there could be a better way to utilize staff. I also understand ingredient prices have increased, but 1 pizza here was already $15+ before these increases. Adding surcharges for everything, increasing the upcharge for gluten free, and charging for a BOX when you order takeout has officially moved T&F to our cannot afford list. Our order: 2 State Fair pizzas (1 GF) to go --> $40+. You will enjoy the food, but expect a bill as if you ordered a nice steak, not a small pizza.

There's pizza, and then there's Toss & Fire. Yea, there are a lot of really good pizza places in syracuse. Pavoves... Paladinos... Mario & Salvos, amongst many other really solid slices. T&F is in a different class of pizza. The freshest ingredients I've tasted in a pie in a very long time. Cooked to order, and to perfection, in their operational wood fired oven. Literally nothing to complain about. We ordered a 3 Little Pigs and a Meatza, yes there is a difference, and both were outstanding. Paired that with a mix your own soft drink, and some fried mozzarella, which was also excellent, and we were so well fed for like $42. Short money for a really excellent meal. Way more than we could eat on one sitting, literally took a full pizza home with us. Well worth the trip to Camillus.

Our go-to pizza spot! The wood-fired pizzas never disappoint and it’s impossible to be bored with all the options. We think the star of the menu is the Detroit style pizza; out of this world. Crispy, crunchy, cheesy edges on the crust, tons of cheese on top. Their DSP will leave you satisfied. The DSP honey Pot is our favorite, and definitely try a wood-fired pie with cheeky monkey sauce! They even have a garden salad we love and get every time, to balance the guilt of stuffing our faces with pizza lol :) Highly recommend Toss n Fire!
