Hi, I'm writing out of concern for the staff at the Camillus location not honoring the requirements for service animals per the Americans with Disabilities Act. Earlier today, I and my fiancee were turned away from the restaurant for entering with her service dog. He is a task trained dog to assist her with her disability. The hostess, upon conferring with the (presumed) manager, requested paperwork from them as proof of him being a service animal. This paperwork does not exist and is not required to be presented per the ADA. Service animals are not even required to wear a vest while working (which the service animal did have on), and most likely if someone presents a "certificate," it is from an illegitimate registry that scams people for something they don't need. People who try to bring their untrained pets into inappropriate places do this. Staff are allowed to inquire about two things only when assessing a service animal entering the facility:
I went to Mitsuba yesterday afternoon around 2:45 because I was really in the mood for sushi. They serve all kinds of dishes like hibachi and shrimp fried rice, but I mainly went for the sushi. I ordered two rolls — the Volcano Roll and the Shrimp Tempura Roll — and I also got the Peanut Butter Explosion dessert to go.
The Volcano Roll was really good and full of flavor. I see why so many people recommend it in the reviews — I would definitely order that again next time. The Shrimp Tempura Roll was good too. It seemed like a hand roll, and it did fall apart a little while I was eating it, but it still tasted great. When I first sat down, they also brought me a free roll sample to try, which was a nice surprise. It reminded me a lot of the volcano roll, so I’m not sure if it was the same thing or similar, but it was really good too.
The Peanut Butter Explosion dessert was delicious. I love chocolate and peanut butter together, and it was a nice balance of both flavors. It was also the perfect portion for one person — not too much, not too little.
The atmosphere was quiet, which I liked since I went during a weekday and there weren’t many people inside. It made it easy to just relax and enjoy my meal. The only downside was that they were out of Thai tea that day, which I usually like to order when I have sushi. Hopefully next time they’ll have it available because I really wanted to try theirs.
Overall, I enjoyed everything — the food, the service, and the calm environment. I would definitely go back again, especially for the volcano roll...
Read moreWe should have walked out the minute we walked in. The first problem we encountered was the gentleman seating couldn’t figure out where to put us and kept walking away from us every couple minutes to go deal with another problem. This gentleman also took our drink and appetizer orders. He came back a few minutes later with our drinks and took our main dinner orders which we were having the hibachi. He never returned to do a drink refill our appetizers arrived after we were all done with our hibachi dinner and two out of the three appetizers were not made well the blue crab in particularly was burnt and the soups -one daughter had one that was very good in the other daughter had one that was so spicy she could eat it, both were the same soup which is not supposed to be spicy. When I said something to the manager she did take the blue crab off the bell but explain to me that the individual who is supposed to be waiting on us was handling two different sides of the restaurant. I think he should’ve focused on one job and done it well instead of trying to do two jobs poorly. Our hibachi Cook was very nice and our food from that food was fantastic as usual. But this is not the first time I’ve encountered rude staff there and quite frankly it’s not worth the money to have to...
