The first time I went to CiCiâs nails was about over a month ago and it was an okay experience. I booked my appointment for the first time for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. The lady they gave me the first time as I started off with my toes wasnât doing so well, as she was filing my toes nails and cutting them before my feet went in the water. I usually get my toes done in the Bronx and let me tell you, this place has no idea what cuticle care is and proper preparation of the nail beds. I would like to add that there was indeed a communication barrier that prevented us from understanding each other. However, I donât believe that I should have to communicate to a nail tech how to properly clean and prep the nails itself to a nail tech. So I asked her to stop and Daniel stepped in which he was nice at first doing my toes giving me that proper cuticle care then got testy towards my gel manicure. As he didnât use the proper technique of cuticle cutting, cleaning and nail preparation. All he really did was file, cut and paint. No pushing of the cuticles, cutting, cleaning, etc. It seemed as though they lacked the proper usage and education of a nail tech. Now, I am never worried about prices so I will not get into that, as I feel their prices are fair. For my following appointment, I called earlier to book an appointment with Daniel again for my boyfriend and I to get one gel manicure (me) and a regular clear coat(him). I also would like to add that I am on the phone with Daniel himself confirming the appointment and he told me that âthere was no roomâ at the time that I called so he purposely booked the appointment for later so I can have him. Now as I get there, Daniel was indeed there but he didnât do my boyfriends nails or mine. It was two different ladies. I didnât say anything because by that time I predetermined to myself that I wasnât coming here again. I asked about my boyfriend about his experience and he told me it was okay. Itâs funny because the same lady that did my toes the first time did my boyfriendâs nails. But on my experience yesterday, it was absolutely unprofessional in every way. Again just a file, cut, paint. No cleaning, no proper preparation. She even cut my cuticles at the very end AFTER panting my nails. I need my nail techs to confirm that is NOT how you do it. I have gotten my nails done so many times in many different ways and not one tech cut my cuticles after panting them. Mind you the file dust from my nails were on my hands and nail beds throughout the process, she only dusted it off once. I was left with putting my nails under the UV light WITH dust on my nails and hands. Now this is the part why I would absolutely never ever come again. My nail tech physically threw my hand to direct to the nail UV light. THREW MY HAND. I am not exaggerating. After applying paint to each nail she would throw my hand. She was getting annoyed clearly with how slow I was putting in my hands in the UV Light but I was doing that purposely not to mess up the paint and put my thumb a certain way so my nails can curate properly under the light. Her low level of patience was truly remarkable. Overall the place is indeed money hungry. As a person of color to a business owned by people of color, I am truly disappointed. I am not leaving this review as a bad omen, but a wake up call for this business. They need to go back to nail technician/manicurist school...
Read moreThe nails were beautiful. Iâm not sure if they made a mistake, but they charged me more than what they verbally told me the price was (which was also the price the menu on the wall had). They charged me $59 for basic color powder nails when they told me $48. I always tip my nail technicians, but didnât realize until after maybe they added the tip in there already on top of tax, or just made a mistake. Itâs not on the receipt.
Itâs a nice place just expect...
