I've never been a fan of geek squad. Even back when best buy was in the old store before they moved to where they are now... I would argue with them about computer tech and they would only get confused which proves best buy didn't hire the best. But since every kid plays video games, the geek squad is a little better now.
Yet... They don't like to do anything that isn't by the book. 5 months ago I had to do a warranty repair on my MSI gaming laptop, not cheap, when it came back 2 weeks later it wouldn't even turn on. I was NOT HAPPY. They wanted to send it back. I'm like uhhh no, your going to fix this now. I had to get a manger to assist me because geek squad wouldn't budge. The manager did a warranty return on my msi laptop after I agreed to buy best buy total tech coverage, then I was given $900 store credit towards a new laptop. The geek squad guy just rolled his eyes at me...
However after 2 months, that new $2600 ASUS ROG laptop, decided to have the pixels start dying on the screen.
Once again... The geek squad wanted to send it in for warranty repair and would take THREE WEEKS. I let him do his thing. I knew he wouldn't do anything else.
On my way out I requested to speak to the store or assistant manager. I told the manager, "hey just a few months ago you guys did a warranty repair on my laptop and broke it. You guys helped me replace the laptop but now that laptop, only 2 months old, is having to go get repaired. I don't really trust your geek squad after you broke my first laptop. Now I'm back in the same spot. What can you do to help me out? "
The store manager was EXTREMELY helpful. He got one of the computer section managers, explained the situation, and guess what they did? Another warranty return and I could get any laptop of equal value or cheaper. I picked out a new MSI STEALTH gaming laptop. They did the return stuff, I got some store credit.
The best buy staff is way more helpful than the geek squad. I've been saying that forever. I will NEVER trust a warranty repair since they broke my laptop claiming they fixed it.
It also might have helped that I said I was getting tired of these lemon laptops your selling me, I might need to go to Amazon and try my luck there.
THANK YOU FOR THE HELP STORE MANAGERS!
TO THE GEEK SQUAD - THANKS FOR BREAKING MY...
Read moreAround the end of September, we brought a Dell G16 laptop in for cleaning and repairs involving the fans. Upon bringing it in, we got a quote saying it'd take a few weeks to have the laptop shipped out for repairs.
It took less than a week for it to ship down to where it'd be repaired, but for the next 3 weeks, it seemed to just be sitting around because they could not find the correct part to replace and/or fix the fan barring. They didn't even clean it up in the meanwhile.
We just picked the laptop back up around less than an hour as of writing this. While I do recall the laptop being dirty and scratched, there were light colored streaks and smeers on the screen and surface of the laptop. Not only that, but the laptop would not boot up successfully.
While we're thankful that they offered full refund in exchange for an unsuccessful repair, I'm incredibly disappointed that nearly a month went by, and it only resulted in something worse. They didn't even mention that the laptop wouldn't boot up while being looked at in any capacity.
Didn't even feel like it was worth it to bring it back, we brought the laptop elsewhere for Repairs. Would not recommend going through Geek Squad for repairs.
On top of that, they handed us a fourm that has the words "Mission Complete" on top of that, as if it were some sort of successful win. It's sad given...
Read moreI came to get my AppleCare service because the charging port on my iPhone 16 Pro Max stopped working. After the repair, I noticed what looked like a small scratch on the screen. I didn’t give it much importance at the time, thinking it might have happened during the service.
However, about two weeks later the scratch started spreading into an actual crack. I made an appointment right away, but had to reschedule due to work. When I finally brought it in, I was told that because I didn’t report the issue immediately, AppleCare couldn’t help since it’s considered cosmetic damage.
I truly believe this damage started after your repair, as the screen was in perfect condition before. It’s very disappointing to see the screen worsening just a month after service, especially when I’ve always taken great care of my phone. I’d really appreciate it if Best Buy could review this as a possible workmanship-related issue under the...
