I'm only giving 1 extra star for the manager. I think her name was Brenda otherwise this would be a negative star. I've used this place once before and back then it had mice as well. I secured a unit last year in July and moved out at the end of June. Sometime around March-April my unit was broken into. I didn't discover this until mid April. Apparently Prime left me a courtesy voice-mail telling me to call them back. They didn't disclose the burglary at that time. I didn't discover the burglary until I go to get items from the unit and discover a different lock is on the unit. I call management and Brenda came right over to cut the lock off. As she's doing so, she tells me a few others were broken into as well. They reported nothing missing. Looking at the unit I could tell before she opened the door that my unit was ravaged. The gates to this place were wide open for months so this break in was too easy. Brenda gives me boxes and tape while I try to go through a whole houses worth of storage. I never receive a call from the police department or an accident report. Trying to get ahold of them is virtually impossible. My items filled with mouse poop and urine and I notice alot of valuable things missing. My ottoman chewed through from mice and when moving my items out there was a mouse still in them. I finally get everything out and to cancel was annoying. I was planning on moving out at the beginning of May but that fell through so I went online to extend the unit until June. No problem. The end of June I move out but forgot to take the lock off. So in July I notice a charge trying to go through for rent. They has upped the rent in June as well. So I call customer support and try to get the charged stopped. First they say you reached support in Jamaica, we dont operate that area. I'm confused on how I got transferred to Jamaica. So I call again, get the right area and they basically say there's nothing they can do because I left the lock on. Pissed off after work that day I went and took the lock off and called back the next day. They say the same thing. I get so pissed I asked to speak with the higher supervisor. She tells me the same thing. I said I went back the same day and took the lock off and took time & dated stamped photos of the unit with the lock off. She finally says they will remove the charge. Now thousands of my items have been stolen and have no way to file a claim because I never received that information as I applied for my unit online. The local police don't call you back or reach out if your stuff is stolen. They just say "We've had a serious of break-ins." NO SOLUTION AND JUST HAVE TO TAKE THE LOSS!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND PRIME...
Read moreI have some serious mixed feelings about this company. On one hand the facility my room was at was clean, well maintained and my storage room didn't have any leaks which is all good. Also from a convenience standpoint this place is really close to where I live and had late access hours, so for that I can't complain.
Now on to the not so good stuff...
EXPENSIVE... VERY EXPENSIVE... The room I rented wasn't much larger than a bedroom closet and cost me almost 150 dollars a month. That's absurd for a non-climate controlled storage box.
GIVE ME A HUMAN... This company relies WAY too heavily on automation. Being an IT guy myself I'm all for automation since I install it every day of my life. The big difference is that MY stuff WORKS. The self-service kiosk on-site is absolutely useless. None of the functions the unit is supposed to do worked.
MORE MONEY! Fortunately, their central office staff, wherever they're based was very courteous and helped me establish my account from a distance. For their efforts, I was billed a 25 dollar "Administrative fee". I assume they were taking this screwball idea from New York State's greasy judicial system. I received a one-day temporary key code to access the facility, which was sufficient to get my stuff into the room and the padlock on it for the night.
YET ANOTHER EXPENSE... The next day I went back to the facility to set my permanent personal code. Noone was in the on-site office... again... so yet again I'm faced with the useless self-service kiosk. After about 20 minutes of yelling, screaming and damned near hitting it with a hammer someone finally met me at the office from inside the gated facility. He proceeded to set the code I wanted, but was sure to notify me that I also needed a renter's insurance policy. Since I didn't have one of those he informed me I would be billed an additional 13 dollars a month on top of the monthly rent. Since I wasn't notified of this requirement when I created my account I found it a bit absurd, especially since I had already paid for the room.
Overall, for all of the issues and obnoxious expenses involved the facility was acceptable for what I needed it for. Would I go back there again? I guess so If no other options...
Read moreThe manager is very very rude. I moved out of my unit 2 days after my rent was due I called and told them on Feb 28th. it took 7 people to talk too to even get the rude manager on the phone 3 days later. she then tried telling me I needed to pay 35$ because I did not tell them 15 days before mind you I called the office and told them I was moving out noone told me that not even the manager Peter who i spoke with which is the person she said she received a email from she was out of town. They are extra money hungry they went up on rates without sending notice in the same month and then your trying to charge me for the month of March which I was not occupying the unit. I moved out February 28th. She sent me a move out date of march 3rd because that's when she choose to get back to me. Sorry mam that's not how this is goin to go its your fault you was out of town not mines my move out date is when I moved out not when you call and speak to me. And your employees new that. Who were very rude as well by the way. Let me just say In the past with the past owners I never had this issue. these new people leave a bad taste in your mouth. A bill of 99$ for march which i was not there for & Then 35$ for not telling you which you were the only one that mentioned that. Noone else told me thats crazy do your jobs i cant do it for you. I have been waiting for her manager to call me back about this and I sent her a email as well. After she sent me a false move out date of march 3rd. She also tried tell me my Invoice would take 30 days and now I no why she wanted me to waiting another month so that I would have to pay which is very weird. Sayin they don't prorate. Well you should be. Since then No one had still contacted me back. You won't get a penny from me why would I just pay for a month i am not there for. Its Not happening. On top of a fee noone told me about in contract or not if someone calls you and let's your no there moving out there unit and your employees don't let them no 15 days is required then I am not required to know it or pay it.
