How do I start out with this restaurant I wasn't to impressed with it. Me and my friend we like to try different restaurant I take him because he will try anything and I am a Chef so with that said. When he made reservations it was for 8pm and he saw they had outdoor tables from the photos. They do have outdoor seating in front of the restaurant. If he would have know about the tent they have in the parking lot he would have made the reservation for indoors. So we were sat outside the it seems like the servers were sharing the section. The first server's asked if we would like some water he was on point. And said he be right back. So would Say this restaurant seems very high end looking at the pricing of the menu. Would assume there be some kind of bread since there weren table cloths. Definitely not or if there was did not receive any. Then a different waiter asked if we wanted any drinks. And went over the menu and the specials menu that was a whole menu. Put a drink order in. In my experience would be a bit overkill in having that secondary menu. Of course want to discuss the menu with my friend talk about what he is getting . The other waiter asked if we like drinks we told him the other go took the drink order. Drink came to the table. Both weren't ready but I asked a few questions about some menu items and. So we took a few more minutes. So when we put in our order I asked one more question about a side dish on them menu smash fries. He explained they were prepared in house steak fries size. I'm not going into the cooking details but he did. Smushed steak fries personal wouldn't have order them. So they had lemon potatoes so I asked what type of potatoes they were fingerling with in a lemon sauce. Over all I would have wanted the sauce to be alittle thicker so at actually coats the potatoes that were just boiled. Very basic. My friend order the side also I didn't hire him order them because being in a parking lot the cars make noise. But he order a whole fish it was on the weekly special sea bass . I order a the tuna special and asked for it rare. Ok the order went in and with in 5 mins it was on the table... and the look on my friends face was like how did they make a whole fish that fast. I do understand it was Saturday night and some item are seared and the put in the over or back on the grill to finish cooking. So the whole fish was put in front of him you would expected a $38 whole fish entree would have been table side bone extracted and present to the guest. Or the pulled the bones out before the cook the fish. I'm sure the staff is skilled to do either of the methods. Because have to eat around bones or stick your fingers in your mouth at a restaurant not to appealing. And with my Tuna it tasted good I feel that it was pre made and then it was sliced to make it look like it's more than there actually was. For $38 a full tuna steak with the two slices showing that it cooked to perfect. But I guess there portions is pre seared and just flashed in the oven or even the heat lamps.. The Server came back he asked me how I liked it I told him it was ok he apologized. I told him it wasn't his fault it just wasn't what I expected. He cleared the table and then we waited and then 10 mins went by and we were presented the check. Unfortunately we weren't offered any coffee or dessert. So we paid the bill and left.. The restaurant...

Guests at MP (Michael Psilakis) Taverna at One Bridge Street, Irvington, NY 10533 will definitely not be disappointed by any aspect of this fabulous restaurant. Having been there multiple times with a diverse range of groups I can assure that everything about MP Taverna is wonderful whether youâre going there with your family or your boss.
MP Taverna brings a high end twist to classic Greek food, something very uncommon. Whenever I go to MP I always order the same thing, the grilled branzino with the chips, simply because Iâm a picky eater. MP offers a diverse range of foods for all types of people. The food ranges from vegetarian options like classic Greek salads and vegetable souvlaki to seafood like octopus, and even a kids menu. Hereâs a tip, when you arrive they will bring you bread, ask for pita and they will bring you warm, delicious Greek flatbread.
The service, like everything else at MP is great. They are funny and act like theyâve known you forever, and will accommodate the dishes to your liking. The maitre'd is pleasant and will try help you any way he can and after you get to know him will get you in without a reservation. All the servers will make feel welcome and important. The restaurant is completely family friendly and will make the dishes just how you kids like them. They will even make something special for picky eaters. They will joke around with your kids, tell them how cute they are, and even remember their names and orders for the next time.
The ambience is one of fun, and is very versatile. It is a nice restaurant which can either be formal or casual. It can get pretty loud and full on weekend nights, especially in the dining area, so itâs best if you have a reservation. The restaurant gets much more crowded on days where the original chef and founder comes in from the city.
In conclusion MP Taverna is the perfect place to bring of kids or your former boss. It is a fun-filled restaurant which brings a new twist to classic Greek food. The service will make you feel welcome and important and youâll want to come back. I give 4.5...
Read moreThis was our second time there, which was accidental really because I forgot how mediocre the food really is. And weâve eaten pretty much everywhere in Westchester and even Manhattan. From Per Se to Greyâs Papaya.
I came in and tried to sit in my chair, which was NOT a flat, easy to access seat (the sides curve up and all 4 of us found them ridiculous) and the chair slid out like I was on an ice rink. It was either the feet of the chair being metal on tile (or whatever it is) or there was something that made my particular seat act like I was on actual ice. I sat down after falling on the ground and I could slide around the area where my chair was like it was literally on ice.
Itâs NOT me. Iâm far from clumsy and I am somewhat overweight but not that much at 210lbs. And Iâm exceptionally careful because Iâm used to lugging around 20lbs of photography equipment when we travel in Europe.
It was incredibly embarrassing, AND NOBODY FROM THE RESTAURANT BOTHERED TO COME OVER AND SEE IF I WAS OK.
My wife suspects that this could potentially have happened before to people and they just donât want to deal with the liability, but theyâre really only compounding that. If I was thinking more quickly, I should have gone to an owner or manager and been extremely angry at them. But I didnât, because my embarrassment level just wanted it to go away and not draw attention to myself. I donât enjoy having people stare at my like Iâm a clutzy moron.
So that was the LAST time we go to that restaurant.
The soft shell crabs that I got and my mother got were, frankly, indistinguishable from any other thing youâd over-fry or batter. Thereâs no taste of crab left. They gave my wife the wrong side, too.
Just an awful, awfully expensive restaurant and definitely NOT worth the trip down from Croton on Hudson. Sambal is more fun, less noisy and the food is at least decent and interesting.
I should have investigated the âcauseâ of my chair being like ice skates. But I didnât. For the reasons I...
