There were so many good things about this restaurant that gave me no choice but to give it five stars. First, it's location. The business fills up a two-story, free-standing building at the edge of the Hudson River. While there is indoor-seating throughout both floors, it is the outdoor seating on the second floor that promises a breath-taking view for diners. It was chilly the evening that I dined here, so I opted to remain in the indoor section. I ordered the drunken noodles and they were lightly-spiced with subtle Thai flavors that melted on my tongue. I ordered the roti papadam as an appetizer. It came with a tasty curry sauce made for dipping the bread. There was also various Thai beverages available including Thai iced tea and mango juice, which is what I ordered. There was a full bar on the second floor with many varieties of wine to choose from. Towards the end of our meal, I looked out the door that connected the floor to the outdoor seating terrace. I saw the Sun setting over the Palisades across the Hudson River, what a site to see! This place seemed to be built for these amazing views. I highly recommend this place for couples who want a romantic date, especially during sunset. The Irvington station of the Metro North train is just one block away and I believe goes straight to Grand Central Station in Manhattan. This restaurant is a must-visit if you are ever visiting the Tarrytown area and are hungry for...
Read moreGreat ambiance at the cost of moderately passable overpriced Thai food .
This is how I would describe the place in a sentence. The main selling point I emphasize again is the environment. You can eat out in the balcony overlooking the Hudson and the pier and it makes for a memorable family time. But sadly, that's where the positive aspect ends atleast for me.
A friend and I went in and ordered the Thai Jungle curry and the Red Curry, two dishes that I savor from Thai cuisine. I was disappointed to find how bland both of the items were. There was absolutely no spice at all, even in the Jungle Curry which boasts a three pepper hotness rating on the menu. Now spiciness simply doesn't mean that you have to add a lot of chilli flakes or powder into your spice mix. There are a range of spices and ingredients like coriander, basil, turmeric, that you can add to bring out the quintessential Thai flavor out of your dish. Sadly, all of that felt missing. The Jungle curry felt barely more spicy than chicken soup you have to get rid of that cold while the Red Curry felt too sweet and without any accompanying distinctive flavor besides the coconut milk. Add to the fact that both these items were around $18 without taxes. I have had much better Thai for less.
In conclusion, it's just about a nice place to dine with family while on holiday in Irvington NY but not recommended if you are looking for that culinary...
Read moreThis restaurant was fantastic. Parking was easy, plentiful, and close to the restaurant. The outside balcony was open and filled up slowly, allowing us to get an outdoor seat. The views were jaw-dropping and spanned from the Mario Cuomo Bridge to halfway down the Hudson River. After eating, we walked to the edge of the water (a few steps from the restaurant) and could see all the way to New York CIty. Our waiter, Aldi, did a phenomenal job in engaging with the customers and understanding when we wanted to change our drinks. The Thai Iced Tea was deliciously sweet while the Lemonade was more bitter and refreshing on a hot summer day. The Mango Mojito was a good mix of mango and minty flavor. Just a taste of the Mango Tasse sends your tastebuds to paradise. The Mango Tasse is sweet and creamy with hints of tropical flavors in every sip. We will definitely come again for the drinks. My meal excellent but my husband felt his meal reminded him more of Chinese food rather than Mediterranean cuisine. Our desserts were perfect. I had the chocolate cake which tasted outstanding with the Mango Tasse. The Mango Mouse was out-of-this-world with a perfect balance of sweet and bitter. Overall, this was an excellent experience in which I truly...
