My husband and I went to Kay’s today to purchase a necklace. The store was extremely busy but I was greated fairly quickly and was told to give them a moment and someone would help me. We were looking around and someone else asked if we needed help, we said yes we wanted our rings cleaned while we browsed for new jewelry she took our rings and started cleaning them.
About 15-20 minutes later a different girl brought our jewelry over and opened the little case they put the jewelry in and I made a joke “those aren’t ours” she immediately closed the case and said oh my! I told her I was just kidding and we laughed together. She said today was her second day on the floor. My husband spoke up and said “why are her rings apart?” My wedding rings were soldered together and now they are apart. I told the new worker not to worry I have warranty so it’s not a big deal. She brought me to a different worker. I said my rings were not like this when I came in, he asked me “are you sure” I said yes I’m sure. I said they’ve been soldered together since I’ve been married two years ago. I said if you don’t believe me, take my information and look at my account. He’s looking at my ring and he’s like “yeah I see they were soldered together.” He’s like this happens from wear and tear. I said MY RINGS WERE FINE BEFORE THEY WERE CLEANED! It was not loose, not missing stones, that’s wear and tear, two rings don’t just come a part from wear and tear. I said you know what? Can I have my rings please? He gave me my rings and I started to walk away and he responded with “have a nice day” not being genuine but being very sarcastic, as if my wedding ring being broken is a joke. I turned around and asked to speak to the manager.
Breanne was the manager. I was trying to explain the situation and she cuts me off mid sentence. I asked her to let me finish and she made a face and said okay. I explained the situation and she responded with “this is from wear and tear” I said I don’t want to hear that my ring was in amazing condition before I took it off to get cleaned. I said what can you do for me, she’s like “what do you want me to do for you” I said I want you to fix my ring that was broken in the hands of one of your employees! She’s continuing on with wear and tear, I asked for my ring back at this point knowing I do not trust leaving my rings with anyone in the store and to go to store I normally go to. I walk away and what did she say, to be sarcastic and instigate the situation “have a nice day!” At this point I’ve had enough of the nonchalance of my ring being broke, the sarcasm in the “have a nice day” not one apology was said, NOT ONE. Things were said that wasn’t called for but instigating a heated situation and not taking any accountability as a manager is appalling.
No matter how they put it my ring was broke in their hands, no matter if I had warranty or not, an apology for the inconvenience would’ve diffused the situation 100% and not point blame to wear and tear.
I would never go back to this kays and I would advise nobody else to either because when things get broken they don’t take accountability.
I’ve been a customer at Kay Jewelers for over five years I’ve been to this location twice and both times I’ve had horrible experiences. It’s my fault for going back. Go to the one on balltown road instead.
I give it one star because I was greeted quickly even though they were...
Read moreI travel throughout the east coast on business and have come across many different Jewelers. The team at the Crossgates Mall Kay's has been taking care of me for years now.
What began as customizing my first wedding ring to my wife, has expanded to upgrading to a larger stone, tons of necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
Trusting your jeweler is so important. It begins with the management team and with the amazing Linda and now the fabulous Vitoria leading the way as well as Mistique always listening to my needs, my experience is always VIP! Mistique helped make my latest upgrade and ensured a high quality diamond was picked out of the many choices I had to look through. I highly recommend seeing Vitoria, Mistique, Christine or Danae at the Crossgates Mall Kay's.
Everyone, for peace of mind, ALWAYS get the extended warranty with them. If something happens that a stone pops out, as long as you take it for regular inspections as they advise it is covered. Another benefit, I put my wedding band for instance through alot and they clean it as often as I visit, inspect for lose stones every 6 months, and if I want it shined up or recoated that is covered. I promise you, some cities shower water is harsh on jewelry, the warranty pays to protect the items you spend your hard earned money on.
For fun, please visit their diamond events. You get to create your wedding ring and the process of watching the expert jeweler assemble it all is Awesome. They crew makes diamond shopping the special event it should be. It truly is an experience.
I can't say enough great things about Kay's, but in particular the Albany, NY crossgates mall team. Love the professionals there. Tell them Ralph Pillot...
Read moreI have had nothing but good experiences with Kays. Unfortunately yeaterday I went to the location and crossgates mall with my 3 children, I walked In a little while after the store opened, there was 4 sales associates and 4 customers besides myself. As time passed more and more customers were walking in the store, one of the associates kept glancing at me so I know she saw me, but all associates kept going to others in the store. I was started to get frustrated with the wait and another guest finally said I think she was here before me. After discussing my dissatisfaction the lady who kept glancing at me came over and was extreamly rude and unprofessional, she said they only help customers who are nearest to the register. Seriously, you have people in your store and your not going to approach them because they are not standing near the register? I had my 3 children with me and wr were standing next to the case of the item we wanted to purchase. The manager was completly rude I honestly believe they looked at me like I wasn't going to buy anything, so the didn't approach me, they were only helping the men that walked into the store as me and another girl waited close to an hour before being helped! I purchased a watch for my husband for valentine's day, after I asked her to take out a couple links I recieved even more attitude. She ran my cc before even askiNg if I wanted a warranty and threw my items in the bag as all the other associates were wrapping everyone else's gift. This is by far the worst run kay jewelers. I am honeatly considering canceling...
