When I was a little girl my dad and I planted a sunflower, it grew so tall, taller than my father. Then there was this big storm that came and I remember my dad saying don’t worry your sunflower is strong like you and this storm is nothing compared to the strength of your sunflower. The next day we went outside and the trees had all been knocked over, peoples roofs were ripped off but my dad was right.. there was my sunflower, standing tall and strong. My parents have since moved and I wanted to plant sunflowers for them so they can always see them and remember me. I stopped into this florist shop and they were so nice. I was walking in and the guy ran over and opened the door for me. He walked me over to the seeds, and said he would be getting more (it’s off season) he helped me get the sunflower seeds and at the same time I didn’t even realize Valentine’s Day was a couple days away so I know they were super busy, so I appreciated the time the guy took to help me with something that he wasn’t going to make any money on. It’s places like these that you want to go to, that care about their customers no matter how much they are spending. There was also a woman there who was hard at work, and she stopped to tell me how to plant the sunflower seeds, they both were just very nice, happy and helpful. It is a really nice place with great people working there. I’m pretty sure the woman was the owner and maybe that was her son, I could be wrong but I liked family owned businesses like that because they just care so much,...
Read moreThey have the friendliest staff! I needed some daisies for a baby shower, but they weren’t in season. I called so many nurseries in the surrounding area to look for flowers that look somewhat similar to daisies and Eric at Abby’s Parkside Nursery was by far the most helpful and friendliest. Other places I called had staff that sounded very annoyed and were short with me on the phone. Not Eric! He was very friendly and patient over the phone. He recommended some white echinaceas they had (which he kindly described to me and sent me pictures because I had no idea what they looked like) and put them aside for me to pick up. When I went to pick them up, a lady greeted us right away and asked us if we needed help. During checkout, Eric thoroughly explained how I should care for the echinaceas so they look their best until the day of the baby shower and another staff member helped me load the plants in my car. The plants were healthy and I followed Eric’s advice to cover the pots in burlap and lace for the shower and they came out super cute! I will definitely go back to Abby’s and recommend them to anyone looking for a...

"Great place, friendly staff and extremely nice owner. HOWEVER the guy at the register is totally unprofessional, a creep and simply rude. He rung me up for a $30 bag of potting soil that he was going to bring out from the back. He never got it and I went back in and he blamed me, that it was my fault. Also, they push too much for the helpers to place items in your car. The guy working the register destroys the reputation of this place and has left a bad taste in my mouth."
This is an absolute lie. I have no affiliation with Abbys. The only reason I'm writing this review is to shut down how ridiculous this other review is. The guy working behind the counter who I assume is the owner, is one of the most professional people I've ever met. He always gives you a big hello with a smile. He genuinely helps me every year. Any question that I have about a plant, he's got the answer. He has never been rude to me, never been nasty, and he's always been helpful. So yea, don't listen to that review. If I had to guess, it's probably some guy who's in...
