The food in the deli here is great. It's fresh for the most part and well staffed. Unfortunately, parking is always a nightmare, so it's not a quick trip to pop in and out. Sometimes, the line for the deli will take a good 20-30 minutes. Their bread has gotten smaller over the last few years even though their prices haven't. There are other places nearby that bake their bread in-house that taste better and are less expensive.
I gave it a 3 star rating because of the checkout process and lack of professionalism. Be careful when buying produce. The teenage cashiers tend to overcharge. I was charged over $10 for a head of romaine lettuce, which was $2.99. The girl tried to tell me it was $2.99/lbs. This is one example, but it's happened a few times, so I won't buy produce there any longer. I used to shop in there frequently, but after that, I seldom go in. That was my solution to the looks and giggles when I said something. Hopefully, the owner will read this and do something if he wants to keep the local customers coming back.
Their West Islip store is huge compared to this one. This location is very cramped and the lines can be very long. The N Bellmore is about the same. They do offer the option to order ahead for holidays. I've never done that, and the feedback has been mixed from the local FB groups. It is still an option, nevertheless.
Overall, if you want a good hero to take to the beach or don't feel like cooking, it's a good place to get something. There are a lot of options. The deli staff do make an effort to keep things clean. It is on the pricey side so be prepared to spend money...
Read moreI didn’t write a review the first time this happened but decided to on the second round. One guy behind the prepared food counter is not only lazy, but gets your order wrong (that was at the Bellmore location) . I asked him to heat something up, he looked like I asked to cut off his hand. Not only did he heat up the wrong food, it was barely warm. He’s also at the Wantagh location. In the Wantagh location he completely ignored me as I patiently waited then takes another customer who just walked up. I turned around and left. I picked up a prepared salad which in all fairness is decent aside from the one time it had a hair in it (which I did not call about or leave a review). The other guy has his back to the counter doing something back there. It’s not that hard to turn around and say someone will be with you in a moment. Their rice balls have zero flavor, their lasagna is over salted, zucchini sticks were limp and soggy tasting like the freezer and that’s if there is zucchini in the soggy tasteless breading. Chicken salad is like mushy soggy chicken. The food is over rated, over priced, the people obviously suck aside from the girls ringing you up at the end. Obviously management doesn’t read the reviews because they’re repetitive and the owner must be oblivious. I’d fire the staff behind the counter especially the little Napoleon with the slicked back hair. I’ll take my money to...
Read moreWhat happened to this place? I used to love getting pre made dinners. The chicken parm, penne ala vodka and eggplant were amazing! I would also make my own eggplant by buying a few pounds of fried eggplant. I guess it's been a year since I went. Two weeks ago I went to get some chicken cutlets and eggplant. The "eggplant parm" was in a tray arranged in stacks with sauce and cheese. I assumed the stacks were slices of fried eggplant. When I got home I immediately put into one and found out the stacks were actually one thin slice on top of barely cooked sliced that were about an inch think. Absolutely disgusting. These two stacks were nearly 20 dollars in the garbage. It was clearly marked as eggplant parmigiana. It is never cooked this way.its just plain laziness to fry less pieces knowing that in order to fully cook they will be greasy and soggy. This were not soggy as they were raw. Why would they...
