I live in oceanside and one day I was job hunting and walked In a supermarket called, Wild By Narure. I spoke to the manager Jason, that appeared nice and he decided to offer me employment.
I was relieved that finally I found somewhere in Oceanside that was not being racists or so I thought at the time.
The first day on the job they put me to train with a long time employee called Henrietta. She seem nice enough then the woman started coughing without covering her mouth.
After the 20th cough it was obvious this woman was sick. I asked her to put on a mask and she refused. She was also at the register blowing her nose without gloves, also handling the customer food, at the same time. She also wasn't wearing a mask.
I found it strange no one asked this employee to put on a mask or gloves, while she was handling food or suggested to her to stay home.
Needless to say after I went home the first day because Henrietta was coughing and not covering her mouth, I felt sick. NO ONE else coughed on me but her.
This was the Thursday about 2 months back. By the Friday I was sick. I had diarriah, I was also feeling naucious. I was coughing my throat was sure and I felt sick.
Saturday I hardly had the strength to walk home. I took an Uber went to urgent care and did a panel testing for viral infection. I was tested positive for Infuennza A or the flue as it is commonly called. First time in my life.
I was so sick being 54, everything hurt. I live alone and had no one to help me. By this time I was coughing my nose was running and my throat was sore. I had extreme body aches and pain.
Emily and Jason was upset because I was insisting Henrietta gave me the flue. No one apologize, neither did Henrietta. I came out of pocket for some of my expensies.
No one offered to reimbursed me. I was home for 10 days without pay after working for about 3 days part rime. I came back to work and work for 2 more days then they let me go.
I was told by HR that they got reports that I was a good employee. So I was surprised when I got fired.
The staff started treated me funny and I called HR to complain. The accountant Makenzie was giving me the wrong numbers on purpose to the customers reward card that you had to call for in the back.
The store manager Jason who started out being nice, was now being nasty. I tried talking to the assistant manager. I pulled her to the side. SHE IS about 4ft 8 or 9 I'm 5 ft 6 inches.
We had what I thought was a productive meeting. To my surprise when. I came to work the following day I was asked to go into the office by the store supervisor and manager.
Pete or David not sure, the supervisor asked me what happen to me and a customer I was helping who had a baby and was pushing a cart with one hand.
I was surprised I answered nothing. It was at this point he proceeded to tell me the customer complained against me and said I was badgering her for a tip. He also told me me how he saw on camera me assaulting intimidating and threaten the assistant manager and it was on camera.
He then told me to hand in my name tag This man was verbally abusing me in front of the store manager Jason who said nothing I have the recording. I had to tell him to calm down. I told him the accusations were a lie he didn't care.
It's funny how wild by nature didn't fire me the same day they claim I assaulted the asst store manager. THEY waited until the following day.
The customer could have never told them I asked for a tip because I'm an empath and I love helping people.
Wild by Naure fired me because I accused their long time employee of giving me the flue. Also because they are racis in my opinion. Also because I refuse to speak to Henrietta until she apologize for making me sick.
This is my true account on what happen to me when i was...
Read moreFor all the people saying that you can find the same items at Trader Joe's, you must be delusional. Trader Joe's usually pushes "Trader Joe's" brands and you CANNOT find the same identical items there in most cases. You may be able to find SIMILAR items but you must compare apples to apples if you want anyone to believe a word you're saying.
If you are going to WBN because it's a LIFESTYLE choice (you want to save the planet, you want to cripple the evil Monsanto, you believe that GMO foods have a profound effect on the body and would rather be safe than sorry, you like the idea of reduced pesticides and antibiotics, you do it because all your friends are doing it) then that's one thing. SOME PEOPLE do not have a choice. Some people have allergies, sensitivities or unknown health conditions and have correlated eating better quality food with survival. Some MUST eat organic or non-GMO to live. These people don't have a choice so the price on the food item is what it costs to continue to live. Can you put a price on your life? If you believe eating better quality food makes you feel better than you must make a choice, pay for the food or continue to pay for the doctors.
Now, I shop there frequently and I can say that there are some items that can be found in other markets and sometimes even more expensive, however the VAST MAJORITY Of items sold at Wild by Nature are often reasonably priced considering the nature of it's quality whether gluten free, non-GMO or organic.
What WBN does do well is that it is able to focus on the above mentioned specialty items and bring them all together in one place. I must say that having the convenience of shopping in one location is likely less costly than having to spend time and money traveling to multiple locations to save $0.49 on a can of beans. If you're going to whine about something, complain about the size of the produce section and variety of organic produce. I think if they focused more on adding variety of lettuces and fruits, they may see more traffic AND if they lower the prices just marginally or offer larger discounts or have sales on those items, I'm willing to bet they will see more shoppers coming for those items and picking up other groceries while they are already there. I must say though, that the fish department never impressed me. I'm certain that it's due to the lack of turnover of product. It rarely seems fresh and it's a shame. I haven't bought fish there in a long time and currently I do not buy fish there because of what I see. I may be wrong but when I shop there, the product doesn't appeal to me. I could be wrong.
Lastly, the deli counter needs the most help in my opinion. Rarely is there a time when the attendants are alert to help you, are knowledgeable about the food displayed or show a little enthusiasm for helping (it's their job, they should be smiling). A little culinary prowess in the kitchen should fix that; anyone not interested in making and serving food shouldn't have that job.
Again, I think a critical look at the whole shopping experience can improve some aspects of it but overall, I think WBN does a fantastic job of bringing specialty items together in one place. BTW, you can find some of the WBN items at King Kullen, it's parent company. And if you've been to WHOLE FOODS lately, you know that there are a far more "CLEAN" products at WBN than there are at WF. WF isn't as good as...
Read moreThis is a review update. I believe the pictures speak for themselves. * Update on 9/30. Gave the Tarragon Chicken One more chance and the only thing I can tell you is it tastes like no flavor dehydrated almost like it came out of a bo wanna be chicken. If you took chicken that you cooked and put in the freezer for 3 years, that is what this tastes like). ORIGINAL REVIEW: However, I should note that they gave 3-day-old chicken to me and their chicken salad, it was totally gross. Also tasted like it might have been the type that is a chicken roll and not really chicken breast, it was really bad. So when I called to bring it back they said if I don't have the receipt they had to get my driver's license? Am I bringing back electronics? I told him I called the state attorney general's office and I'm not giving them the driver's license. Then all of a sudden, like magic, they didn't need it.
When I went in I saw garbage all over the floor. When I use the restroom, I was aghast.
This is supposed to be a premium HEALTH FOOD store that sells high and goods at a high price, not a subway station selling garbage that will give me food poisoning, and when I call stating that I'm sick, they want a driver's license? By the way, the receipt was in the back seat so I was able to give it to them after all. After all, I hate to go against protocol at such a high class...
