THE WORST. This was one of the very worst meals I have ever experienced in all of my days. Where to begin? First: I ordered this through Postmates, so you know I paid an arm and a leg for the entire ordeal. Second: as soon as we opened the To Go bag, we noted the pita bread was just a package of pita; a store-bought, cold, package of pita, still in its original wrapper. Third: the falafel was made from flour and cinnamon-and not in a delicious churro-kind of way. Note- I did not mention parsley, chick peas, fava beans, lemon, or any of the ingredients that traditionally comprise this dish. No. Just flour and cinnamon, fried into dark, dry brown balls of disappointment and regret and served with a side of overly salty “garlic sauce.” Fourth: the salad that came with the meal was simply iceberg lettuce and over ripe tomatoes drowned in - dare I say it, ranch dressing. Another note- ranch is not typically used in Mediterranean cooking. A simple tahini or olive oil-based dressing, even lemon juice would have been more appropriate. But no, they found a way to bastardize and completely ruin even a very simple, and I emphasize the word “simple,” salad. Lastly, the babaganoush had the consistency and tanginess of vomit. All in all a wonderfully terrible experience. By all means, eat here if you’re on a diet or hate yourself. I’d give zero stars, but that’s not an option. Thanks for absolutely nothing, The Gyro Bar. You ruined my night and my stomach lining. Next time try just a little harder to be, at the very...
Read moreWhat a circus. Out of the 4 times we’ve ordered from them, twice they got the order wrong.
Just this evening we waited an hour for two items and one of them was wrong and missing items.
When my husband called to tell them the order was wrong they insisted that the order was right. My husband is allergic to feta so would never order a salad with feta. The girl who he spoke to responded with ‘what you’ve never made a mistake before?!’ Had a very nasty response, didn’t apologize and instead got defensive and angry. Someone needs some customer service training. When you make a mistake you own up to it. Period. What a terrible experience. Do yourself a favor, order from the half dozen other Greek places within the area. This place is not worth your time.
Re their response below, no they did not apologize. The girl screamed back at my husband ‘ok!’ And hung up. The delivery guy apologized, but this poor guy did nothing wrong. I worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years. It’s always busy. I would never have spoken to someone they way she spoke to him. If you have to apologize after the phone call and try to make up for it by writing a note in the delivery bag, it’s too late. Your response below is not an apology it’s an attempt to save your reputation. Bad attitude, bad...
Read moreSo I ordered from GYRO BAR in Oceanside last week: a grilled chicken platter, but what I got was sliced chicken on potatoes. When I called to say that I expected a whole chicken cutlet (which is how other Greek restaurants serve it) the manager said that is how they serve it, cut up. I told her that I didn’t like it so she said she would give me a credit next time I ordered. Fine. Well I ordered 2 Greek salads with grilled chicken tonight and when I went to pick it up the manager Karen said she would only give me a credit for $6.50 for the chicken. Well the platter I had ordered last week was $20.99 but she would only give me a credit for $6.50 bc that’s the price of the chicken. She said that it came with potatoes and salad and I would have to pay for that. The best is that when I opened the salads tonight and looked at the chicken on the side they were whole chicken breasts! Poor...
